I think 90% of the reported incidents are in people’s heads, they always seem to occur when people are asleep (if you look at the stats an overwhelming amount of them are people waking up) and I think a lot of them are people waking up and still half being in a dream. My uncle bought a house on penny lane years ago with my auntie who was from Glasgow, he moved into the house on a Thursday and she was going to come down on the Monday when it was all set up. He woke in the middle of the night to a man in old Victorian dress come into his room, sit on his bed. Then get up and walk out the room. He never told my auntie this happened and I don’t think they ever had any more incidents.

I used to work in a bar, one day I had to go down into the cellar to get a box of Bud Light to refill up a fridge. There was a hatch in the floor that led down to it. As I was about to come up another member of staff was at the hatch and asked me to change the Guinness. I went back down and put the bud in the middle of a keg to set it down. If you’ve seen a keg you’ll know there’s a massive metal lip around them an inch thick. I went to the other side of the room to change the Guinness and heard a massive crash. Turned round and the Bud was 10ft from where I’d left it, thrown against a wall with every bottle in it broke. Nobody else was down there and it didn’t fall off. The bar had a lot of things like that happen in it like nobody being in there bar 2 staff members and people having conversations with people in toilets that were never there.

I think those that are real are the blurring of different realities or rips in time. I think that’s why people always see things from the past. Nobody ever sees a “ghost” from the year 3056. I think some people are more in tune to it like psychics. My Nan was born in Germany, the night before anyone she loved would die she’d dream she was back on the farm she grew up on, no matter how fast or what direction she ran she couldn’t escape it. She’d wake up crying and know that somebody she loved had died. She’d wake up in a panic and ring around everyone she knew to work out who it was.
If you'd continued that your auntie then moved down and seen similar this little tale would have been a bit more fun, as is, you've presented at most half a story, with a set up for more that's gone unfinished. D+ must try harder.

You've never been in the pub with the elderly type that start talking to their bladder to ease themselves into having a burst?

No matter what, it was always the planet Venus!

Apologies Rita, creative writing was never one of my gifts. I didn’t want to embellish the truth though and come under scrutiny for padding out the story simply to appeal to the masses. You know what the volters are like on here, 4 years down the line I’m in the dock trying to explain how my auntie got sucked into the spirit realm in the tv and an arl southern bell having to coax her out

The brain is a fascinating thing and can play the most believable tricks, that is my opinion anyway.

It has been mentioned, why are ghost almost always Victorian or headless, etc. It is because these images have been implanted in our minds. The subconscious is there and now and again comes to the fore and tells us lies as to what we are seeing.

My old best mates house was similar.. A huge amount of things happened there. Middle of the day time too! I will list them below that I can remember.

It was a big old victorian detached house..

1. We were playing electric guitars in the basement when suddenly all of the jack plugs pulled out of the amplifiers simultaneously.
2. A large metal garden bin full of tools fell over, couldnt lift this thing, and all the tools spread across basement floor.
3. There is a third floor window that was above his bedroom. With no internal access to the space in the house! We heard banging noises coming from up there.
4. Skiving off college one day, sat in the garden, we saw a face a one of the back bedroom windows, we ran inside to find no one else in.
5. One night, quite late we could hear the piano playing (yes, they were a bit snobby), ran down in to the living room and no one there.
6. I walked in to the living room again one day and there was someone stood by the piano, i did a double take look and it disappeared.
7. The bedroom we saw the face at the window, my mate swore things moved, so we put a chair in the middle of the room and drew round the legs with chalk. Went down in to the garden for a few hours (skiving college again). Went back upstairs a few hours later and the chair had moved about 6 inches.

Thats all I can remember off the top of my head. Its just too many things to be coincidental or explainable in other ways. I've never had anything like that happen in my house, or anywhere else!

Have you considered channeling Shakespeare, or Jilly Cooper for here?

Possibly the best line ever typed ever!

I don’t doubt that sometimes these things happen but I don’t think they’re ghosts in the religious sense of things. I’m probably a bit more either spiritual and think it’s some sort of energy or scientific and think there’s a plausible explanation for it. I flip between the 2 ideologies
