Do you actually watch the games? Schneiderlin has been good so far this season and was name checked before the season by Silva so is obviously in the managers immediate plans.
I'd be interested how you think Dowell and Sigurdsson can replace Schneiderlin in the current formation. Davies is a viable alternative but Baningimine has 11 first team appearances so is no where near a regaular first team position yet and we have yet to see Gomes in a blue shirt.
Youre asking me if i watch the games then state as fact that Schneiderlin has been good?
I actually believe that the club and the fans should expect ALOT more from a player than waddling around and playing basic passes just because he doesnt want to 'lose position' or whatever excuse can be made for his unwillingness every single game.
In the system being used, Gana is the ball winner, Schneiderlin is relied upon to hold a position and bring the ball out + recycle possession.
Its quite obvious that Dowell and Sigurdsson (as well as Gomes)are superior passers (forward) than Schneiderlin. So if we are looking for someone to build and recycle play then hes a strange choice.
On the other hand, if we are seeking a box to box player alongside Gana (which may be an issue as Gana seems unable to sit) then Gomes and Davies are superior options...
Third option would be to have 2 ball winners charging around like Parkinson and Horne: Baningime and Gana -- though their passing (forward) is under question
Id be interested to learn what key features of Schneiderlins game are superior to any of the other options.
If you look at what i believe to be a successful 3 man centre midfield, the RS had Mascherano + Alonso + Gerrard. We have Gana + Schneiderlin + Sigurdsson currently playing similar roles.
Mascherano had a different style to Gana but both are very good defensively.
Alonso could dictate play from deep and wasnt afraid of running 5 metres to put a tackle in.
Gerrard and Sigurdsson are also different but in a way similar in that they both cover huge distances and have somewhat similar (in a way) skillsets.
Even taking the Juventus team, Pirlo would be the Schneiderlin/Alonso in that side...furthermore, just look at Neves in the DM position for Wolves against us (yes i watch the games) and compare his good performance to what you are qualifying is good in terms of Schneiderlin.
Yes, hes not as dire as last season but i believe thats due to tactics rather than any discernable improvement.
