Replacements for Jagielka and Baines are sorely, sorely needed. Digne really needs to happen ... Jags and Baines as regular starters again next season is surely asking for trouble.

totally agree. Buying a new centre back would knock williams down to that 5th spot, but as i think we'll keep martina as athird choice full back for both positions, williams will be the one we need to offload.

That would knock a player like pennington who clearly isn't good enough alongside the others in the U23's who are too old to be maintained as they clearly don't have a future here. I don't really understand how we'd find it hard to offload these players because they've all got a lot going for them if you're thinking in terms of championship/league one level. But maybe we're more concentrated on the proper first team atm, which is understandable.

We'll worry about offloading them near the end of the window. Actually think we should get someone in just for a couple of months to do just that and let brands focus on the first team until the end of the window.
 
We need a new left back, central defender and a striker if we really want to aim for a european spot.

Besic or Schneiderlin

And then bring in 3-4 more. Thats a lot of low level dross there with just 4-5 players on big contracts and who might fetch decent fees.

We need at least 1 centre back but preferably 2. An athletic midfielder who can make the trickier passes. And a left back.

Another forward player would also be very much helpful.

If we don't get these 3 players at the very least, then we will struggle. We are going to probably struggle anyway this season, but it will be a much worse situation if we don't urgently strengthen the defence.

I still hope Mirallas has a big part to play for us, but he could easily be added to this list. Same with Mo, but always injured. Beni should stake his claim this season. DCL (slippy) has the potential and I think we’ll need him at some stage of the season
