Goats squad analysis thread 2024/5

still a light squad if you normally can submit a 25 man squad with the PL.
honestly can not see any future for Holgate and Maupay. Big question mark as well on Keane, DCL and Patterson for example as well.
Dele might be added though if he shows his fitness in pre season

Welcome Lindy.

I dont like that the midfielders are all lumped together, debating whether to remove the wide forwards section and lump Harrison, McNeil, Indy and Lindy in a forward section.

What say thee all?

Lindstrom for sure will be used as a wide player. Thing is Doucoure is a midfielder by trade, but used in an advanced role. Ndiaye is not a midfielder but more a support striker or probably will also be used as main striker/wide player.

A back up centre half
A centre mid
A left winger
A striker

Fullbacks, centre mids are a concern. Strikers could be better, unless Chermiti/Beto step up considerably.

Can someone who follows the yoof more closely than I advise on who they see coming through as first XI bench or even player this year. I know we gave a fair few a game in Ireland but realistically it seems we moved a lot on from last years senior crop?

Metcalfe and Dixon would be closest is my guess. But whether they're close enough us another matter.

For cup games with a lean premier league squad, to give readiness and experience and forward thinking in development terms,
Something like:

Virginia
Dixon Onyango Welch Cambell
Mills Iregobunam Metcalfe
Okoronkwo (Dele/Beto) Chermiti


Rather than play:

Keane, Young, Coleman,
(Holgate & Maupay) who have the development and experience aspects already.

Yeah we have clear areas they need work, especially if we stick with the usual Dyche formation of 4-4-1-1.

Need at least one cm, one CB, a winger and cover for fullback.

That's a bare minimum of 3 more (assuming the 3rd CB can also cover FB)

Personally think we will bring in another 4 more maybe 5, 2 players at the back (versatile cb and another fb) an out and out DM, winger with pace, and a cf if Beto AND Dom go

2 of those will be loans as well.
