Golf 2022....

On the Open I still have a last chance on that £20 bet on Hovland to win a Major this year. He's fallen off a cliff this season after a dynamite run back end last year. Wouldn't advise anyone to back him at this time. Not even to win a pitch and putt competition in Cleveleys.

Haven't had a good look yet but I will be. Love the St Andrews Open its the home of the great game. Played there and was based around the area many decades ago so that gives it an extra boost for me.

Only other bet at this time is a win only on Will Zalatoris. Been right there in the big ones this year. If he can find his feet on his first Open in Scotland then 22/1 is an ok price. Think his game will be good here and let's face it the Old Course has gone from a bear to a pussycat over the years. No defences against supersonic modern equipment. Only the weather can save her. For that reason it really is open to many of the top players. I'll get back when I have a scan of the stats later in the week.

A lot of the big names failing at the Scottish Open does raise some interesting questions and maybe gives a bit more hope to some of the longer shots, if they can a have few days consistent play.

Love McIlroy to get a win here but if the wind gets up it will be tough for him.

Was watching some of that champions team thingy before. They saying the forecast is for light wind, which isn't going to change direction and for plenty of heat. Gonna be some Rick solid fairways and greens.
Will play right into McIlroy's hands this.
He just needs his head straight and he could tear the course a new one.

Wonder if we’ll see anyone beat the lowest ever round at The Open - 62 by Branden Grace at Birkdale. St Andrew’s with no/or very little wind to protect it might be vulnerable, some (relatively) short par 4s for the big hitters to have a pop at!

If I remember correctly, one of Tigers victories around St Andrews was keeping out of all bunkers by just driving with iron's, pretty sure he didn't pull the driver once ? Agreed a lot of those par 4s could turn into long par 3s !!
