After what I saw the other day, the rough at the back of the eighteenth is far more of an issue than the risk of the bunkers. A caddy said the same with the 10th.
I only really watched a couple of hours, but it looked like going long took away the risk of a real big number but less birdies. More people probably got up and down from the bunkers for a birdie, but equally the doubles and worse were usually after getting into bunker trouble

Typical, for an Open Championship. Being in jail up against the front of a bunker rarely ends well. Nicklaus once took a ten after hitting his ball into Hell, and the Road Bunker ate any hope Rocca had in the playoff against Daly that year.

17 claims its first victim, with a triple bogey. Lucas Herbert goes from tied to the lead to even par for the championship. Ouch.

I was in the 17th Green grandstand yesterday, absolutely brilliant hole. From where the players tee off, it'll have looked like the end of the world from the back of the green as it's just a huge drop lol

Spent a lot of time on the 18th tee box, thr amount of players who pulled their shot left was unreal. I'm assuming there's an OOB running along the right side. Sam Burns tried (and failed) to smash his 3 wood up.

Atmosphere felt a little flat though yesterday apart from I'd say Fleetwood and Rory.

To be expected. When I was at the PGA on Friday, it was the best golf they played all week (two 63s and tons of other low scores) due to the rain the night before, but the crowds were thin and flat other than the ten-deep gallery for Tiger. It picked up big on Saturday, and Sunday was a zoo with all the roars you expect from major championship golf. We avoided the crowds for the most part on Sunday because we now knew where to sit/stand without getting caught up in the crush, but when Tiger's army started flooding 16 and the tournament was no longer in the balance, we decided it was time to get out.

We could barely move in the sea of people by the time we neared the bridge to the exit. I shudder to think how long it took the people who stayed for the trophy presentation to catch a bus to remote parking and get home.

Early starters yesterday / later starters today seem to be getting the better of the wind, although it might hang around this afternoon.

Brilliant round from Harman.
Anyone who doesn't make a move today will be left hoping the weather over the weekend cuts him down to size. He already had the round where the Sunday back-nine butterflies ate him (2017 U.S. Open), so that probably won't do it.
