Golf 2025 Season…….

I'd never heard of JJ Spaun, and I looked up the world rankings after the play off and he's 25. Surely not because of his 2nd in this.

He has 3 top 3 finishes this year (including the Players), has 1 win on the PGA tour. He has been a steady player over the past couple of years. This year he has been a lot more consistent, looking it up as I was intrigued, his lowest finish so far this year has been T34.

However, due to the signature events and the bump in FedEx points and prize money, players can shift through the rankings if they have a good tournament, in these events alone.

Aberg, Straka, Rory, Hatton and now Hovland all in the winners circle already this season. Maybe they’re peaking too early as none of the American big guns are in form let alone winning.

Masters week, my 2nd favourite tournament of the year, behind The Open! Like to have my little wagers (£1 ew ;)) to make it even more interesting, currently on my list Aberg, Lowry and Tommy F :coffee:!

My favourite major of the four (The Open a very, very close second). Looking forward to this one in particular, unlike last year, where it was difficult to find anyone else, other than Sheffler, winning the green jacket. This time around, it feels like there’s a hatful of names you could make a case for. Even some of the long odds, while I won’t go as far to say I’d consider as a winner, could finish top 5-10. Should be an exciting week ahead

I think it was ominous how Scheffler finished in the last event, out of nowhere he nearly got in a playoff with Lee. The weight of expectation is the biggest hurdle Rory has to overcome and sadly can’t see that changing this week, unless he has a great week on the greens. My outsider is Justin Thomas, showing signs of his returning to the top of his game. If he is, his game is well suited to Augusta.

He's certainly one of the names I have in mind as a possible winner. Coming into form at the right time, but considering all the talk around him is that he's been off the boil this year, which compared his standards of last year, he is, his worst finish so far in terms of placings is T25. He'll be there or thereabouts come Sunday, I'm sure.

Agree with you on Rory and I'll be prepared to go into the vaults and possibly look a right muppet come Sunday evening, but I don't think he'll ever win a green jacket, for the reason you give. JT is a good shout, another I'd make a case for winning it. I've got a sneaky feeling on Morikawa, he's had good finishes on the leaderboard this year and like JT, showing signs of his game coming back to his best and has had a top 10 and 2 top 5s in the last 3 Masters.
