Good European cities w/ clubs to go watch

The FC Groningen game was certainly an interesting experience. The Ultra’s all meet in the main market square about 2 hours ahead of kick-off before marching together to the ground; there must of been well over a 1000 of them, all singing, swigging ale and lighting flares. This March takes up the whole width of the street and goes ahead without and any police escort!

Getting to the Euroborg Stadion is dead easy from the city centre and takes about 25 mins.
The ground holds 22,000 and isn’t at all bad, which couldn’t be said about the quality of football on display as it was a 0:0 draw with both sides lacking quality in the attacking third.
It was worth the £30 ticket price just to watch and listen to the home support in the North Stand, as they didn’t let up for nearly the whole game!

It is another good one. Levante are the other club in the city. Good atmosphere and also close to the centre if Valencia are away.

Got a little trip booked to Valencia in Sept. Unfortunately Valencia will be playing away but Levante will be at home so might go and watch that.

Went to Munich a few years ago which was good - both for beer and football. Only downside was 'supporting' a club wearing red.

They wear blue too...

I went to see Lazio v AC Milan in Rome. Great experience. Bilbao is a gorgeous city. You could go there and take in an Atletico match.

Valencia is great and so is madrid.

Istanbul is great and there are a plethora of teams to go and watch. Besiktas and Galatasaray are on the European side and Fenerbache on the Asian side. A good tip though is as those grounds are usually full and maybe more difficult to get tickets, go and watch Kasimpasa who play very close to the central part of Istanbul on the European side, just down from Taksim Square and over the road from the British Consulate General. They have very few fans and tickets are cheap.

Bremen - it’s a great city in a great location. Can easily get the train to many areas with great football, cities and plenty of drinks. Can easily get to Dortmund, shalcke, Koln, Hamburg and many more grounds staying in Bremen.

Milan - San Siro is a brilliant stadium with a great atmosphere for both teams. Great city too.

Dresden - was unexpectedly a great trip. The Dresden fans are mental.

Liege - enjoyed Liege but didn’t get to stay for long as I’d have liked. Good stadium, good fan base and decent team.

Warsaw - went to watch Legia play whilst was there a few years ago. Not the best city in Europe been too but still a good trip. Got a modern and old feel to it. Cheap for food and drink.

Paris - Obviously it’s Paris but going a PSG game was rather disappointing. Atmosphere was rubbish, cost for a match ticket for very expensive compared to some places in Europe. Cost more for a PSG ticket than it did to go watch 3 games in the Bundensliga.

In February half term, depending on match fixtures got a trip to Germany booked in. Plan is to start in Munich and work our way up to Hamburg to watch St. Pauli, all going well, will be my 30th game watching St. Pauli home and away.

How do you get tickets for St Pauli? we struggled before would like to return

Bordeaux, Great city and a decent team in a nice stadium.

Or got to Berlin and take your pick of lower level teams. Tennis Berlin, Dynamo Berlin, someone like that.

I'd recommend Marseille, Union Berlin, Fenerbahce for atmosphere. And Sporting if you're incorporating a lil holiday.

Yeah Gdansk is pretty nice, lots of links to Liverpool too (the city not the horrific club).

The new ground is well better than the old MOSIR too.

Could always go to see Arka Gydinia too, they are only down the road.

Go to Belgrade and try to catch a local game, like for example Partizan vs Red Star.

I hear things get a bit spicy, mind.
