Goodison - help or hindrance?

Plenty moans and groans well before their goal. Cavemen booing us playing the ball backwards or sideways. There's nothing wrong with keeping the ball, have any of these clowns watched modern Premier League football? People seem to want League 2 thump it up the park football, well you are gonna get your wish soon at this rate

Now, I am not saying there was nothing to boo in that performance, the effort was appaling, the movement was lethargic, I recognise all that. But the toxic atmosphere starts with all the booing and groaning well before we have even done anything wrong.

Sometimes it's an awful place to watch football, and I can imagine it can be awful place to play it as well, let's be honest here.

Someone will be along in a minute to complain that people are "blaming the fans again". The team can be poor AND the fans can be toxic you know, it's not one or the other. Quite often it's both

It’s been a while since I was at a game where there wasn’t a single cheer, ironic or otherwise, when the team was been called out just before kick off. Tumbleweed!

Got talking to a fella in front of me who was bringing his son to his first Everton game. They had been at OT the night before as the lads brothers are all United fans. The amount of abuse been thrown to both teams by fans around me during the game was bad but some of the stuff thrown at our lads was the worst I’d seen. Poor kid will be scarred for life

Prior to Sat most talk was of Goodison being the 12th man so to speak. A la Leeds vibe. I was in the Bullens stand on Saturday and just saw fans moaning and arguing with each other. And that was just the first half. Rarely did the vibe rise above luke warm. At the whistle it turned to verbal abuse aka Rafael days. I write as somebody who has no time for the thick unwavering uninformed and unintelligent false loyalty of Geordie and Leeds fans but come on. If Everton are to survive we have to be 100% behind the team right now. Save our fury for when and if we go down.

I bet you were surprised by the atmosphere Saturday as it must have been very quiet

We played Sunday

They weren’t. The only bit of atmosphere was created by that wolves player going down injured early on.
That was the perfect opportunity to feed on it, not give Wolves the ball back every time he went down, they just rolled over and let the officials tickle their bellies. The team need to play like a bunch of nasty ***** but they learnt nothing from the Son / Gomes incident and continue to let everyone take the ****.

What are you on about? He took the mick but ultimately went off injured.

Maybe for once the players could get an opportunity to feed off us supporting them, much and all as I hate the lot of them. The place is like a toxic library

The Goodison fans will keep us up. We only need the fans to turn up for 2 or 3 more games and we'll win them (I.e. Leeds and Arsenal).and be out of trouble.

Nobody claimed Goodison is great every week did they?

People aren’t going to “get behind” players walking around daydreaming on the pitch for 94 minutes, half heartedly committing to tackles and refusing to take risks. Sorry that just isn’t reality.

I'm also hopeful we could surprise Man Utd and Chelsea at Goodison when there's less pressure/expectation on our cowards.
That's how it usualy works for us, but I'm afraid there wont be any pressure-less games if we fail to beat Newcastle.
