Goodison Park today

The players should be embarrassed at this narrative that's emerged, where they need to beg the fans to hold their hand if they're to find the courage to face the day.

It's one of the most expensively assembled squads in the world's most lucrative league, not a little rugby town club having a season in the sun.

They can't even get relegated with a bit of dignity.

What is there to cheer or get behind?

When we went forward today and tried to create chances and shoot the crowd got behind them.

No one is going to cheer us struggling to string two passes together then hoofing the ball or passing it sideways or backwards.

The crowd were patient today, and still had nothing to cheer for.

Christ, couldn’t we muster up a few more chances at home, against Wolves?!

There's only so much effort the fans can put in but if they see nothing in return they get weary. Seeing the same pathetic performances and lack of basic effort for years and year's will result in a complete lack of enthusiasm..bit like having a marriage or friendship where one person makes the effort all the time but continually gets let down.

I think it's fair comment.

We've all said that Goodison will save us and not these players. If that feverish support doesn't happen on the day we know that's that - as these players certainly wont get the job done on their own.
I think it’s a bit of both: a chicken or the egg situation. Getting behind the players certainly helps performances and results, but it can’t be mandatory.

Today’s performance combined the gloomy picture long in the making, which the players have brought on, helped create today’s atmosphere.

It’s a symbiotic relationship, where we both need to give. There’s a lot of players who aren’t giving.

Singing and cheering for the sake of it is worse than absolute silence. It sounds completely fake and wouldn't help our players in the slightest.

I've said before that if we gave this lot unconditional support, they'd just take it as licence to put even less effort in knowing there'd be no consequences.

We had our worst ever run of form at Goodison (maybe topped this season?!) when there was no crowds/COVID...

That'll be the ghost of Evertonians past fault then, haunting the stadium when it was empty.

It's a pathetic shout isn't it, Everton fans are the problem.

The problem is a load of crap put on the pitch with 75% of those players simply not good enough to play for Everton.

On too high wages to boot

Best Keane had played before having health issues.
If Keane is playing well, or at least not being exposed as a bottom-half no mark, it means the team is camping on the edge of its box and playing the sort of football that goes nowhere.

I can't even remember what the argument is now. People making out that Covid Keane was Jaap Stam is my MK Ultra trigger, so I'm going to have to go calm down.
