No, I don't have that kind of equipment unfortunately. 'Tis a mere illustration of the climb. Was a strong field though. Quite a few national hill climb riders were there. I suspect the chance to beat/compete with David Millar was a big draw. They were flying up there. I'm a decent climber, and am in the top 5% on Strava for that climb, yet they took 30/40 seconds out of me. Impressive stuff.

Phew - relieved! Still impressive stuff from your goodself....

What's your best time around Richmond Park? (Assuming you have done that)

Aye, it's incredible really just how good the top athletes really are. I'm sure it's the same in any sport (climbing too I suspect).

I haven't actually done Richmond Park in a few years now. The road down there from my neck of the woods is not a nice one so I don't tend to go there. I hear it's super popular with cyclists though, especially since the Olympics and Ride London etc.

77kg now, was at 73.5 for ages, back to swimming and starving meself again.

swimming is great but does tend to keep a little layer of subcutaneous fat underneath you know chum

I'd do a couple of weeks eating loads of brocc' and cauli, loads of protein, bit of running, bit of weights

them pounds will fly off, then get back on your swim

I've heard this before, but swimmers (ie the pros) seem pretty lean these days. Swimming + gym is a pretty good recipe for total body fitness I'd say.

Yep, Sat and Sunday from first light.

Mrs the esk goes there most weekends and does 3 or 4 laps, so about 60 km including journey to and fro.

I join her ocassionally but can't keep up

Decent workout that, and on relatively quiet roads is a blessing in London. Is it London Dynamo that use that as their main place for club runs?

I guess so, you always see a large number of them there.

Last time I went I had a good chat with David Weir - those guys are incredible....

When there's sufficient daylight, getting out at 6 or 630 am is great, no traffic. Straight along Kings Road, through Fulham over Putney Bridge, along Lower Richmond Rd. Very nice ride.

he wants to lose a few k though Brucey, can take ages doing that through just swim, bit of running peels of the fat, then back on the swim and gym, that's my recipe for success, oh and need to stop looking at the american food thread too

I've entered a 10K at the end of Nov (MOrun at Crocky Park) started training for it in August, since then i've sprained my ankle and my knees are shot from footy. Looking to get back into training this week. Wanted to break 43 minutes, which I think I might have had I been able to train since August, but going to have to go for 46 instead. Would be lucky to break 50 at the minute!

Being injured sucks the fat one.

Aye, you maybe right. You need a lot of motivation for swimming too as it can get a bit dull. With running or cycling you at least get a lot of external stimuli.
