Ive been Orienteering for 40 years using studded, waterproof shoes which have changed considerably in this time. When I was younger I just used to bash through them , tear them to bits! Now I don’t orienteer that often, am more sedate ,go for good cushioning and they last me years. A quick look in the garage and I’ve got three pairs on the go. My Walsh PBs resurfaced last year and are maybe 20 years old bought in the days when I did Hill Running, from the Bolton based family firm , Classics in their day!. The Nike Pegasus Trail I have are fine with good cushioning and support. Last , and perhaps most interesting is a pair of Karrimor D30 trail shoes bought for £25 from Sports Direct ( Eeek !! , I know!) . They’ve absolutely ruined the quality of the original Karrimor brand, but these shoes have lasted surprisingly well , give good grip , good cushioning and haven’t fallen apart ....yet.

Agree with you that Innov8 are very good, and if you’re serious about these things the extra price is worth it for the confidence and surefootedness they give you.

Walsh are still going strong mate -especially with the PB Ultras, but they badly need to overhaul themselves are they`re in danger of becoming " niche " with likes of Inov8 / Salomon cornering the majority of the market.

On my 6th week of intermittent fasting now feel great.

10k down to 49:03
5k 20:18

Been mixing cardio and weights and holding my strength feel alot leaner.

Not into all these fad diets and that but would reccomend this intermittent fasting to anyone.

Been on a diet of about 1800-2000 calories a day and spinning twice a week. In 2 weeks I've lost 9lbs got another 5lbs to go to reach my Xmas target of 12st. Then I aim to lose another 1 and half stone hopefully by the start of March.

given the first thing most of us try to give up when losing weight is bread, I thought this might be of interest
https://qz.com/quartzy/1487485/the-scientific-case-for-eating-bread/

I've started eating bread again lately and while I definitely feel like I have more energy if I go on a run/work out (as long as it's all settled / digested etc) my weight has stagnated.

I've had a mad busy few weeks and haven't got out nearly as much as I was. Fortunately, I should be able to get out on Sunday morning and then most nights next week, with a two-week break over Christmas (from my full-time job) giving me more time to get back into it fully.

Still boxing and enjoying it hugely, hoping to line up a fight with Wilder or Joshua towards the end of next year. Haven't run as much as I was but going for a run tonight and boxing again Sunday so back into a decent routine. I'm 5st down since April/May so really chuffed with that, little bit more off in the new year and keep up with the fitness, helps with the mental health side of things a lot as well.

Yeah I just threw it out there as an interesting counter argument really. It is tough to find that balance between keeping energy levels high, especially if you are still looking to lose weight, it's all experimentation though. I'm myself slowly switching to a vegan diet so I'm experimenting with the right kind of meals foods to keep me going and satisfied.

Going to get back into yoga after crimbo too, started to feel a few niggles creep in and had a back spasm in the middle of the night last week, just one two yoga sessions a week and 10 mins of stretching and spine realignment before bed have really helped in the past, just gotten lazy with it, which is a shame because I've been training great.

Do you need an agent, as @Joey66 will have some spare time on his hands after we don`t leave the EU ?

As always mate, they so called specialists are now starting to swing back in favour of bread, as long as it`s whole grain and deffo not white bread.

I trail run and I`ve always eaten tons of whole grain bread.

Have a look at what they`re now saying about whole grain bread ( basically the same benefits as oats / porridge )
