GOT Open Letter to Farhad Moshiri

I think it might not be a bad idea to put something together: In so doing I would want everyone to contribute a unique, respectful, 2 or 3 sentence comment.

We don't need "x,y,z is a total loser" type stuff - what we do need is URGENT, POSITIVE AFFIRMATION of what this club stands for - needs to stand for, what we demand, what is going wrong (has gone wrong) but again I wouldn't sanction any personal attacks. So, if we are to get through to him by saying things like "I don't think you should be appointing managers with (recently) indifferent records or "just because someone has your ear" or "someone is (cheap) and (available) doesn't add up to our motto.

Because we certainly are not "too big" to go down - in fact I haven't heard that rubbish yet in relation to our club (whereas it was wheeled out for clubs far "smaller" than us - typically Villa, Leeds, Newcastle, Man City (in days gone by) and of course Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd even have been relegated in my lifetime!!

Your thoughts?

GOT is a platform/it's not our place to start trying to represent fans. Leave that to the various fan groups.

We try and quantify sentiment as best as we can, like in our annual fan surveys;

and on key issues such as this;

But it's not on us to start penning open letters. We'd quite rightly be told to pipe down.

I‘d start any letter by thanking Moshiri for the money he’s invested into the club, as well as thanking him for the stadium he’s currently having built.

He may have made mistakes with manager/player recruitment, but I believe he’s made the decisions with a desire to see the club improve. It just hasn’t worked so far.

I’d also be clear with any aims you have. E.g. director of football, younger more dynamic manager, more communication with fans etc. I don’t know specifically what people ask for.

A lot of fan protests don’t work for me because they often come across as „the team keep losing and we’re annoyed about it. Do something or we’ll keep making angry memes or spray painting offensive graffiti about you!“

Moshiri wants everton to succeed, as do we. He also, bizarrely, still wants to invest money despite having seen so much of it wasted over the past 5 years. I’d really try to keep/build a good relationship with him. One thing we definitely don’t want is a Mike Ashley/NUFC style relationship developing. Mutual hatred, lack of interest, lack of investment, and the club in limbo until it is sold.

Good luck with your open letter. Grandoldteam is a great Site/Forum and im sure any letter Written will be seen by the higher-ups at the club. Please just be smart about it.

Having said all that, there are obviously some very intelligent people on here and you may have already thought about the matters I’ve brought up.

Succinct and to the point
Dear Farhad

When Usminov appointed you, was it as an accountant or, say, a transport manager?
When you became his accountant, did he then appoint a transport manager?
As his accountant, did he ever interfere with your job and alter balance sheets etc?

In other words, do as he does and employ the right people best suited to the job, and let them get on with it. That is the way to be successful and wealthy, you grade 'A' prune.

Yours lovingly

One Wassed Of Fan Base

Dear Farhad,

You’ve embarrassed our club and made us a laughing stock no end. Shocking decision after decisions
Don’t want to be nasty or anything but just sell us to somebody that has a proper business acumen and leave please.

Thanks

Dear Farhad

If you are serious about making this club better then please do the following:

Appoint a young manager looking to prove themselves for the long term

Appoint a director of football and let them do their job free from interference

Employ the best footballing experts in every area of football operations

Employ the best business and commercial experts in every area of the commercial operations

Let them do their jobs

Stop taking advice from people who do not care about our club

Lay out the collective club vision on how we move forward over the next few years

Listen to fans and create better lines of communication with supporters

Stop talking to the media directly through random texts or statements

Accept that you have made mistakes, apologise, learn from them, delegate to experts and then we can move forward.

If you cannot, or do not want to do the above, then please sell the club and let someone else take over.

Thanks
Tim
