GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

They've been far more creative than wwe...the stadium stampede match showed how Wrestlemania could have still be a big event... Hangman drunkenly painting a white line over jericho was hilarious.... Baffles me how vince let Jericho join aew, he's head and shoulders above everyone in the business

Jericho is just another level entirely, and possibly the last of that great era who isn't just a nostalgia attraction now. He might well be the best he has ever been. When you compare that with the WWE who are still wheeling out Undertaker and Goldberg there's just no competition imo. AEW is far far from perfect but it is an exciting promotion which is trying, and mostly succeeding, in putting over new talent.

Honestly haven't liked the goofy Matt Hardy stuff in recent weeks and thought I would hate the gridiron match, but eff me did I enjoy it despite myself. I love anything with Hangman in it now, that barfight with Hager was superb

Jericho and Angle have legitimate arguments to be regarded as the best ever in terms of creativity and talent.

In terms of purely draw, obviously it's Hogan, Flair, Rock, Austin etc.

Angle was unbelievable in his day. I think Rock and Austin were underrated wrestlers in terms of their in-ring work, particularly pre-neckbreak Austin.

Jericho has cemented himself as the GOAT when it comes to creativity imo - he’s been able to reinvent himself so many times and is having an unreal run with NJPW and AEW

In terms of a Mount Rushmore of pure stars, he probably just misses out

I think that's a question for another year. The Rushmore concept came long after lads like Rock and Austin hung up their boots and people were able to reflect on their full careers. With the exception of the Undertaker, there's no currently active wrestler who has a case to be on it. If Jericho and AEW continue on their trajectory and he retires in a few years having brought a whole company into the mainstream, I think Jericho will have made a case for himself too

MJF vs Jungle Boy for the next decade. Sign me up.

I may be getting ahead of myself here, but I hope when Mox does finally relinquish the belt, it's to MJF. Would love to see Mox have to battle his way through a series of massive lads like Lee and Cage, only to come unstuck against a really canny and underhanded MJF. Jungle Boy needs to start winning some matches, I hope they realise what they have with him

I'll never understand what people see in the young bucks. Their matches nearly always make me cringe. It's like watching a gymnastics show rather then a wrestling match, they will never appeal to anyone beyond a segment of hardcore wrestling fans who enjoy all that flippy garbage.

This. I despise them. They're matches are so staged and they have next to no ring psychology. I will say, to their credit, they were in my match of the year so far, but nothing I have seen from them before or since has convinced me that was anything but a one-off

Choosing only 4 wrestlers is nigh on impossible. Even if you broke them up into sections/companies/eras etc its still hard, None of The Rock, Jericho or Undertaker would be on my list, Taker would barely make my WWE list of 4 which is mad.

They are capable of having good matches but they have to be pushed to it by whoever else is involved in the match. If you leave them to do their normal match all you'll get is fifteen mins of flips, false finishes and blatant cooperation with their opponents.

Definitely. Rock and Hart would be on mine, but I recognise that this is purely down to the era I grew up with. I never saw Flair in his prime for instance, but I only hear great things about him. I imagine Austin would be on most, but certainly not everyone's

I love most of AEW but the Bucks are dreadful.

Spot on, I can't stand them.

The difficulty is setting the criteria for it. I think if you’re talking impact on the “business” as a whole then Flair, Hogan and Austin have to be in the 4. Not sure who would be my 4th pick

But then, if you start marking people on their capabilities as a wrestler, Hogan would be nowhere near it. Hogan had probably the biggest role in bringing American wrestling to a global audience. But then again, Vince himself could have a case to be on Rushmore if you were to really focus on that single criteria. The Rushmore is a personal thing for me and, for what it's worth, this is mine:

Austin
Rock
Hart
Undertaker

All coincidentally from the same era and company, but that was the only era and company I knew. Jericho is the first wrestler to make me reconsider this list in a long long time
