GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

Gutted to hear that the guy who got me into wrestling as a kid died today.

Mark "Rollerball" Rocco was so ahead of his time, a tremendous heel and although I kind of watched wrestling when I was about 5-6 years old on World of Sport it was Rocco (and Adrian Street) who made me stand up and notice it. Moves off the ropes, cheating, proper promos etc he was so different to the other wrestlers of the time.

Wow, they really leaned into those punches and forearms back then, makes some of the powderpuff slaps of today look ridiculous. Had never heard of this lad till now, but one of my mates sent me gifs of his turnbuckle bumps and they were insane/amazing

Yeah he was a proper pioneer, sadly his career was a couple of years too early so he never quite gets the credit he deserves. I know William Regal loved his work and wrestled him loads of times. Spent a lot of time in Japan too as Black Tiger.

Didn't know the guy, but enjoyed that match with Dynamite Kid when I watched it yesterday. Todays wrestlers wish they had 5% of the ring psychology these guys had. Also good to see him remembered so fondly by many on social media yesterday (such as Regal).

Wow, that RAW underground thing is absolutely terrible. They're trying so hard to be cool and edgy but really, they just don't have a clue how to appeal to their fans at all.

Yeah it's pretty pathetic. Hosted by a 50 odd year old man who was never cool anyway, complete with dancing podium girls in 2020 and all the stupid camera angle cuts you could dream of. Always hated the idea of putting "shoot" fights on wrestling shows too, we all know its predetermined and all that but it makes zero logic when you suspend your disbelief.

Most of the WWE stuff I enjoy these days are not pushed much anyway, I quite like The Bump and it barely gets a mention, R Truths game show thing is really good too (Mainly because R-Truth is tremendous entertainment and always has been).

I am struggle to keep any interest in it to be honest, it's not even "bad" it's just boring.

Yep,Did not like that Raw Underground at all, reminds me of the opening titles from the past of Raw when you see Austin walking
Pretty much all the ideas they come up with are getting worst, though i like the Orton v Mcintyre Promo's and a fan of Angel Garza/Zelina Vega stuff etc

So I've been watching every Impact show since Slammiversary, and I've gotta say these guys are delivering on a whole other level than both WWE and AEW at the moment. They actually seem to care about their product and the wrestlers seem to take it seriously. It's been three good weeks of weekly tapings now and I'm genuinely looking forward to every show. No goofy clowns, just wrestlers telling somewhat believable stories. Good stuff.

Nice words about Rocco from Cornette on his latest podcast.

Excellent episode of AEW this week I thought. The Mox/MJF feud should be great

I really liked the second half of the show myself. Cody/Ryders tag team match was match of the night for me.

The opening match was absolute trash though. Pure chaos and nothing that even resembled wrestling, just like everything the bucks participate in. They don't even seem to try to pretend that they're taking this seriously and why should we as fans care about them, then?

I was prepared to hate the first match, because I think the Dark Order are lame, I despise the Young Bucks and 12 man tags are a dumb idea. But as far as 12 man tag matches go, it was actually decent. I love FTR, the quality difference between them and everyone else is so obvious in situations like that

And agree on the Cody match. Thought it would be a jobber squash but Cody, as ever, makes his opponents look a million bucks and delivers an old school tag match, complete with hot tag and damaged limb
