GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

Sounds like Chris Hero is coming back to WWE

I wonder if he'll slim down again like he did last time?

As far as i'm aware WWE is in full on hiring mode at the minute looking for new talent all over the place. But has missed out on quite a few already such as The Young Bucks and another ROH guy I can't remember the name of.

But expect a few new faces around mid to late January time.

Wow, just saw him at a show in London last month. I thought he'd never made it to WWE before. He did put on a great show tho, he's a pretty big unit!

He lost a lot of weight when he got signed by WWE a few years back but they let him go in 2013 when he put it all back on again

I imagine WWE would prefer him to look like the former as opposed to the latter, being that it's such a cosmetic company and all that

I can sympathise with him tbh. I once lost a fair bit of weight over a period of time only to quickly put it on again. It's thoroughly depressing. I hope being in the performance centre helps him get back to where he was, because for a while he looked great and was excellent in the ring to boot

Haha, yeah he defo looks like the latter atm! How come he got released before? He was really good, athletic for a big lad, and very over with the crowd.

He was out of shape, so that played a part in it I believe, and it was just before they really started giving the indie guys a proper chance, so he just missed the window at the time. If he'd remained for a bit longer when NXT really started taking off, he probably would have been a featured player

When CM Punk originally pitched the idea of The Shield, he wanted it to be Ambrose, Rollins and Hero, but WWE decided to go with Reigns instead and he was let go not soon after

So a combination of bad luck, falling out of shape and his face just not fitting at the time

Ah yeah, I remember ppl talking about this before, and my bro mentioned Punk in relation to him (they used to wrestle together?). Would be cool to see him in WWE soon.

I think Punk and Hero had something like a 90 minute match in IWA Mid South over a decade ago

But yeah, they were in the Indy Crew of 2002-2009 which included guys like Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, Colt Cabana, Seth Rollins, Nigel McGuinnes, Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, Brian Kendrick etc

It's amazing seeing how many of those guys have made it to WWE

I didn't think any of them would when I was watching them 10 years ago, not because I didn't think they were good enough but just because I never thought WWE would give them the chance because they were still so ingrained in the "big man" culture

Wonder if the Wwe wellness policy had something to do with him losing his original physique?..... A lot of wrestlers who were around before and after that policy began (bar HHH, Cena, Brock, rock) either slimmed down or put on fat....Could be the same with new recruits now, that they can build up a physique in the indy circuit (where the same drug testing isn't around) but then struggle when they make it to Wwe to maintain it...

I think he was signed after the policy had already been implemented, and he maintained the physique for a while on NXT as Kassis Ohno, before letting his standards slip. To be fair, I think he's said that he was having some issues with depression at the time, and that contributed to the withering of his physique

The general consensus from those in the NXT hierarchy were that he wasn't doing enough off his own back to stay in shape, and unlike Kevin Owens or Samoa Joe, he couldn't hide it as being "part of his gimmick"

I'm very impressed that he moves so well for being a man that big to be honest. If he could actually slim down again I think he'd be a major star in WWE, because his work is excellent
