I was responding to another poster saying we should sack him and I was making a point that he was being paid way too much.

If you can find a post where Ilm saying "let's sack Koeman" in his first season that'd be great.

That wasn’t the assignment. You said specifically that you back all managers in their first seasons, yet there’s evidence of you hounding and slating Koeman and calling him a clown just a few months into the job.

As I said, watching closely.

Maupay can play as a second striker or as a forward when the ball is played in to feet. He cant be a target man, which is what Dyche and Lampard tried to do with him. I think Maupay is an idiot for the stuff he says, but I think a lot of it is born out of frustration of how he was used during his time here and the fact he is labelled as "rubbish" because he spent most of his time chasing lost causes or competing with CB's for long balls.

The thing I would say about potter is his teams play higher risk football than we are used to. Similar to Martinez, playing out from the back more. Potter has played a narrow 442 at times and that might be the best option with our current squad, if we are going to play Broja and DCL. But we would still need to either sign new LB and RB this transfer window or actually use Patterson, as this would rely on the fullbacks getting forward and providing width in attack.
Yes, Martinez seems like the closest Everton manager to him - in fact they were both at Swansea so maye some of Martinez culture was still there.

Wouldn't be my first choice if i could pick anyone but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's the best option we have in our current situation.

TFG want to make a long term appointment, supposedly they wanted to wait it out until summer and make an approach for a manager who's currently in a job.

Considering we can't do that, Potter for me would be a step in the right direction. Crucially I think he keeps us up this season, and will also do a better job of starting to build a team and a style of play than a 'safer' manager like Moyes would.

I can't stand the thought of having another stop gap manager who will keep us in stasis another year.

Slating him for sure. He wasn't;t my choice of manager. That's allowed if he's not getting it right...and he wasn't at that point: we'd won 4 matches in 16 from the September and he looked like a bad choice even then.

Maupay wasn’t used as a striker at Brighton but to assist the striker which he did quite well assisting in goals and scoring some himself, no striker has done well,in the last two or three seasons, at Everton ploughing alone up front so why did they expect a much smaller man, Maupay, to do any better in that role!

Agree mate, we did what Everton specialise in since Moshiri - set up to fail.

I think this gets overplayed as a way to try to explain away something that doesn't make sense on the face of it. For me it just didn't work out for Maupay here, I think partly because of what I was talking about earlier with expectation etc being a bit too much for him and partly him just finding himself out of form. No doubt we didn't play in a way that totally maximised what he's good at but I don't think it's accurate to say we tried to use him as a target man.
It’s 100% what we tried to do. It’s what we try to do with absolutely everybody. DCL gets so much crap, but I’m convinced Haaland wouldn’t score in our setup. We play the target man approach yet get no decent balls into the box at all anymore.

So just to confirm, you only back managers if they’re your choice? I’m glad we got that clarified before the next manager comes in.

4 wins in 16. Little did we know we were living in such a hot streak of form!

So he had a better record than dyche this season?

Yeah...after spending £250M compared to Dyche selling more players this summer.

Great comparison.
What do you think dyche would do with 250 on his squad? He doesn't shop at whole foods so you're never going to have a supposedly equal comparison
