Graham Potter - Poll

Do you want Potter as the next Everton manager

Why?

I love Mourinho but why would he be the top target for owners that sacked him less then 12 months ago. Then he publicly insulted TFG saying they dont have a clue about football.

Also why would we have to wait to get Mourinho hes in Turkey And not even winning the league
A lot of the speculation about Mourinho is based on the betting market. It appears someone made a bet in the last day or two which dramatically reduced his price. Maybe whoever it is knows something, or maybe just guesswork (like the rest of us).

To go with Moyes been offered a contract in Jan, to then have it pulled after he didnt sign right away. And this with Lopetegui is so wrong to me. Yes Lopetegui was always going, but basically forcing him to take training, while they sort new boss in background is way out of order to me

Were doing the same thing mate.

Its not nice but its how well run clubs work. Sack one fella then announce the new guy within an hour.

Not how we do it which is sack a guy then spend the next 2 weeks panicking and then getting in some random useless relegation fodder no mark

We may be, we may not be. We could be getting used. Not actually sure we even want Potter myself. Think hes a bit over rated. That is defo the foreign way though sack someone, then say new one in the hour

But the same people are saying that hes signing for west ham. So if their right about that why wouldnt they be right about us?

Also the people on toffeetv have mentioned that weve been talking to potter a few times since early November.

Tbh mate it sounds to me like people are now doing that thing where they just pretend we werent involved so we didn't miss out.

If we werent involved then the club would of denied it. Hell dyche would of denied it in the press conference yesterday. He didn't he more or less confirmed it
It hasn't been widely reported enough for them to deny it, that's my point. They don't deny every clickbait rumour in the tabloids etc do they, and that's all this has been. There haven't been proper articles written about us trying to appoint him and what contracts we've offered him and all that like there were from the West Ham end, which suggests to me that they were the only ones actively trying to get him and any interest from us was more general and never concrete. Obviously I'm not on the board, I don't know any of this for certain, but I have not seen one media piece from a decent source which gives any kind of indication at all that Graham Potter was our first choice for manager and knocked us back. Obviously if you want to believe that Baz and Ped know the inner workings of the club and that the current manager would know exactly who we were trying to replace him with (and be allowed to comment on it in a press conference) then you're welcome to.

We've been in talks with him since November apparently
I suspect we have been talking to many managers over the last few months.

Some are desperate to frame this as us losing out to West Ham - but there is zero evidence we ever made Potter a priority or our "top target." It's certainly in Potter's interest to let West Ham know we were in for him - even if was just a phone call with an agent. It's also in West Ham's, to show their fans that their owners are punching above their weight in holding off interest from Everton - an historically much more significant and powerful club.

If we want to criticise the Friedkins, I'd be sticking to they've dithered over Dyche and have had months to get somebody in when they knew Dyche was plausibly sackable in January.

think the bobble was saying something about their main target was still in a job and they preferred to wait till the summer to make their move, joining the obvious dots leads to Jose. The only thing is that he left on fairly sour terms throwing his toys out the pram in true Mourinho style calling them "Clueless" so it might be a long shot although he is expected to leave Turkey in the summer. He does hate the RS though and he would make it his mission to put one over on former clubs like Spurs and Utd but imo it would be one of those things that is either a dream for a couple of seasons or a complete disaster.

Yeah, hes gone to west ham.

Our new owners have lost out on their top target to a club that bans their DoF from the trainning ground and the owners constantly involved themselves in decisions that have nothing to do with them...And we pay more money then.

Dyche till the end of the season it is
I don't get where the potter was our top target came from to be honest with you. I'm hoping we swerved a bullet in the long term. He's a cry A**e manager he'd be on the sick bench with the rest after a couple of half time boos. It'll be other backroom staff to see us.over the line.

You wouldn’t go near WHU at all would you, what an awful way to treat people. Cautionary tale Graham.

What i want to know is who we go for next, surely you cant keep dyche after this.

Its got to be someone with the profile of potter hasnt it.

Or are we doing that scatter gun just hire anyone approach it could be sarri, it could be moyes, it could be fonseca, it could be southgate, it could be galtia, it could be Mourinho who knows all managers with a complete differen style of play but were after the lot

you and i and all others don’t know mate

I don’t think we ever wanted Potter tbh, and I’d have been concerned had we took him on. He won’t do much at all at West Ham.

It does show how far we have fallen tho. West Ham have got rid of Moyes and Lopetegui because mid-table isn’t good enough for them. During this time, Everton have been attached to Dyche, with many supporters reluctant to get rid of him because “He guarantees 38 points”.

In reality he guaranteed nothing at all, but it seems like such a guarantee is enough to be kept on as an Everton manager these days, whereas it gets you sacked at West Ham.
