1963 league game ? It was packed , but I sat on a barrier with my late father holding me!
The golden vision was playing we won 2-0;)
Ha ha, my mistake mate I thought you meant the league cup semi final in 77 because that the game @edge mentioned!!!!! Thought you were of my era. My first away was Burnley January 1967. Got beat 2-1.

Pablo the little beaut

bloody dump that place, in the lg semi up there they said we ripped the barriers up and throw them at the Bolton fans, in reality they had collapsed and only for the blues(, myself included,) in front of them pushing them back till the surge had finally died down, there would have been carnage, they snapped and came away from the concrete as we pushed them upright, we got them over a fence between us and the home fans , no point did we get anywhere near them or want to for that matter , but the press police and Bolton were quick to blame us.
I was leaning on the barrier as it collapsed ,it just folded in front of us definitely no an act of vandalism just weight of numbers, didnt realise we were blamed for it as I went back to london after the game so never really saw the papers had to catch a coach from Bolton to manchester on a very draughty coach as all the windows were put in.

yep was in the morning papers and local tv blaming us.
They were good at throwing bricks that lot volleys of them coming over most of the game until three quarter time when it was are turn to volley them all the way down the road to a rail bridge, only got back in to see the last few seconds of the game, then had to walk back down were we had just come from, things you do when your young and daft.

went to that game, no ticket mind, got in 10 mins from the end. spent the previous hour and a half trying not to get my head kicked in. Great days indeed

There were no details with the photo but this one of Burnden Park looks a fit.

My other main memory of Burnden Park was the abandoned game I think Boxing Day 1979. Peter Reid got a serious injury playing for them. No chance the game was going to last 90 minutes. Had to walk home from Lime Street to Maghull!!!! Them were the days.

Happy days at Burnden Park 1966... we were in the end Colin Harvey scored.....
Sad now in a way that Bolton Wanderers may be the next olde club to have to close their doors.. lack of money to pay the players wages ...God forbid that ever happens to us ........

For the younger fans when we had our standing end behind the goal - the chanting started 1 hour before kick off - wooden floors under the stands the noise was great - what an atmosphere in all the grounds in those days!
Everton Gladwys street's end packed for the 1988 Derby a glorious site! - That end really did suck the ball into the opponent's nets -seat -DOH!

Notice something?

No bloody silly flags and banners screaming "look at us aren't we great fans la la la"

No "best fans in the world" garbage.

Just the Standing Street End on Derby Day full of tension expectation and passion....in short the best fans on the greatest terrace ever.

Watch and weep.
