Joey ....Alex Young played every League game that season wearing the No. 9 plus 3 fa cup games, 45 games on mud heap pitches..
What a player.. i was priveleged to see him play for the following 4 years ... man what a player.
On his day he was so majestic - he glided over the turf/mud -Also what a leap for a small no 9 he used to hang in the air - Roy Vernon made most of his goals - What a fantastic duo they were!
It was rumoured Alan Ball came to us because of the Golden Vision - I will always remember seeing them play together Alex wore the no 7 shirt they were magic together Alex was in his twilight years of his career, but what a spectacle it was to see them two in a Everton shirts!

Notts County away in the cup 84, Andy diving header on the the deck!!!

We were all over the ground, behind the goal and the full side down the pitch. Loads of floodlight climbers and the stand roof was full as well. Think we outnumbered them in their own ground for an fa cup quarter final, don'the know whether we did but definitely felt like it.

Was there that day, was awesome. Definitly more Blues than County fans. And what a header by Andy Gray

Invincible on and off the field mate!!!!
They were. Not a bad egg amongst them off the field. Not a weak link on the field.

They had supreme confidence. They would sometimes be coasting a game by a couple of goals then concede one. The fans might have been fearing the worst then, but did the team panic, change the game plan, start hoofing the ball anywhere? Did they ****. They just kept playing with the same measured composure and saw out the game at worst or else opened up a two goal margin again. Imperious.

And what a great fella too,I've been fortunate to meet him a couple of times, they say they shouldn't meet your hero's(Alex is still my fathers god to this day,so he is mine too by associationlol)but he is everything and more you would expect an Everton legend to be:)

That's me extreme left on the pitch.
Had those stupid reactolite specs that were supposed to be normal in daylight and go dark in the sun.
They were permanently dark!
That's the Kemlyn Road we were in.
Looks to be more Blues than reds.
The following morning we left by train for Bratislava.
Possibly the best week of my life.
We beat Man U 5-0 the following Saturday.
