Two music programmes well worth a listen :
Star Spangled Hendrix - about Jimi Hendrix's position towards US politics in the late 1960s
The Gospel Truth - first of two programmes charting the rise of Gospel music, and the trend to its increasing secularisation and commercialisation.
Both on the IPlayer.

Pilgrim. As the prologue states :

Off all the tales told of these isles few are as strange as that of William Palmer. Cursed, apparently, on the road to Canterbury in the spring of 1185 for denying the presence of the other world by the king of the Grey Folk - or Faerie - himself, and compelled to walk from that day to this between the worlds of magic and men, and subsequently known in all the strange and wonderful lore attributed to the mysterious William Palmer, as Pilgrim.

A man cursed with immortality who, now in a modern setting , battles with incursions into this world from creatures from without, whilst seeking an end to his existence of 900 years.
If you have an interest in British mythology, customs and folklore this is highly recommended ; quite dark and matter of fact in its telling.

All of the series (5) are currently available for a few weeks on the IPlayer.

You mean The Wireless? Top invention.

wireless in relation to it's predecessor the telegraph, maybe.

But in real terms radio mate, radio.

probably named because the 'waves' radiate out
as in;
video killed the radio star,
radio gaga
radio luxemburg
radio controlled
radio times
radiohead

I've looked in it, mine has wires in, not a lot but some.
I have another that is connected to the mains supply by a wire.

Radio. Yes I agree a top invention

The Chrysalids, by John Wyndham, on R4 Extra tonight at 18.00. One of my favourite books dealing with the emergence of telepathic powers in the young amidst a post apocalyptic world, and their persecution by the puritanical society.

Just noticed that Clint Boon has a programme on Radio Manchester at the the moment : Clint Boon's 80s experience. If that's your thing. Last track played - Magazine.

Always a sucker for a good ghost story, so, might be worth catching a series of contemporary ghost stories on R4 Extra this week : The Visitors Book and Other Ghost Stories.
Also, Cider with Rosie on R4 Extra.

Witness : the back to Africa movement. The story of the emigration of black people from Arkansas to Liberia in the years following the Civil War.
Tales of horrific persecution and lynchings abound. On the IPlayer, R4.
