Groucho's Fact Hunt

Following on to that some people didnt have a pot, so " they haven't got a pot to piss in"
Tanners in old Rome were a kind of public health resource.
Rather than let the people piss anywhere, they provided pots outside their tannery for the good people of Rome to piss in, then used it to tan their leather
win-win, early recycling

No wonder Plato (not Plato) was so annoyed at the Spanish using it to brush their teeth with instead...

Known as the Mpemba effect, warm water will transform into ice at a quicker rate than cool (lower temperature) water.

So if you're ever in a rush to make ice, get some water out of the kettle rather than straight from the tap.
Tap water will never fully freeze. As it starts to freeze, the microscopic contaminants are forced out of the ice into the remaining water giving tgat part a lower freezing point. You end up with a microscopic amount of water which is super-saturated and doesn't freeze

See videos of people in Russia throwing boiling water off of balconies etc. Also how snow cannons wotk in ski resorts.

....I freeze tap water in one of those little trays to put in my rum.

Have you ever walked home from the alehouse on the back ways, and gotten totally disorientated so you felt like you were wondering lost and aimless all night, waking up in a bush in the early hours of the morning ? Mayhap you stepped on a stray sod. Well known phenomenon in Irish and French folklore:

If I ever woke up in a bush after a night on the ale, I'd consider myself a lucky sod. Unless she proved to be a complete munter.
