Groucho's Fact Hunt

Gorillas can catch human colds and other illnesses.
In Alaska it is illegal to whisper in someone’s ear while they’re moose hunting.
The bat is the only mammal that can fly.
The only mammals to undergo menopause are elephants, humpback whales and human females.
A tarantula spider can survive for more than two years without food.
The flamingo can only eat when its head is upside down.
The dumbest dog in the world is the Afghan hounds. (That explains Robbie Savage)
The very first bomb that the Allies dropped on Berlin in World War Two hit an elephant.
A mole can dig a tunnel 300 feet long in just one night.

I like Animals.

.....the fascinating one is the Elephant. Can't have been many of those in Berlin, he was one unlucky fella.

Gilbert and Sullivan met in Waterloo, Crosby. Mr Gilbert was working on a trial at St. George's Hall at the time.

The Wellington Statue, of the Duke of Wellington that sits atop the Wellington column on Communtation Row is made from a cannon from the battle of Waterloo, melted down.

Neutron stars are some of the densest things we know of in the universe. They are typically about 7 miles in diameter and with the mass of 2 suns. To put it differently, a sugar cube sized piece would weigh 100 billion tons, a cubic meter would weigh the same as the Atlantic ocean, and, because of the insane gravity, if an object was dropped from a meter above the surface it would reach speeds of about 7.2 million km per hour as it landed.

I had no idea these are only 7 miles wide.

The density I knew, but this is essentially how black holes work isn't it? Humongous amounts of gravity.

This is where the conventional laws of physics breaks down?

To quantum mechanics?

Quantum mechanics is the study of all things small, but I think all known physics breaks down as you get to the singularity of a black hole, I could be wrong though...

Edit: quick check, the singularity of a black hole is a 1 dimensional point which contains infinite mass in an infinitely small space and all all laws of physics we have cease to operate.

So we basically haven't got a clue about them?

In a 90 minute match, Premier League players burn off the equivalent of 15 Jaffa cakes.

Nearly two thirds of footballers go bankrupt less than 10 years after packing the game in.

@Titus Bramble Lifting your head on a neutron star would require the same energy as climbing Everest.
