I'm pretty sure Churchill said that Germany was the envy of the world for their fuhrer around that time too.Adolf Hitler was Time Magazine's Man of the Year in 1938.
Like a moggy. They miaow for food, but hiss when they are cruising for a bruising. Slowed down, miaows sound like tiger roars. It is just a matter of scale.Tigers never roar to be aggressive. They only ever roar to make other tigers aware of their presence.
In Iceland, a woman took part in a search party for a missing person, only to discover that she herself was the person reported as missing.
On a side note, anyone who is interested in random facts should take a look at the books 'A short history of nearly everything' and 'At Home' by Bill Bryson. Both jammed full of random facts!
"If a potato can produce vitamin C, why can't we? Within the animal kingdom only humans and guinea pigs are unable to synthesize vitamin C in their own bodies. Why us and guinea pigs? No point asking. Nobody knows"
Bill Bryson is the man.
Believe he's an Evertonian as well
Groucho, you are a bad man. I'll have to start reading this thread from page 1. This is going to take up valuable time.
Additionally, "Blame It On The Boogie" was written by a man called Michael Jackson, but he wasn't related at all to the Jackson's. He recorded his own version, it's decent.
The sentence "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter in the english language.
the state of Alaska holds the most Northern,Eastern, and western point in the United States.
There 's a film coming out soon based on Brysons 'A Walk In The Woods'Haha love this one
Yes, yes he is. Love Bryson's books, the two above are great, especially the former. Absolutely amazing book, so much infomation in it, but reads more like a good novel. I'm just reading 'One Summer' at the moment, some great facts in there also. The only one I can vaguely recall is that 1835 (or something like that) is the only year the US has been debt free.
If that's true then I love him even more!
I've spent the last 3/4 days doing exactly that! Worth it tho
Sure I read this a day, and a few pages, ago! Was definitely checking his version out yesterday. There's been a fair few repeated facts, unsurprisingly, several times only pages apart!!
Ah, now I see why it's so used for displaying typography.
How can that be true? Don't understand how it can have the most Easterly?
Great thread though. Will have to find some cool facts to contribute
Christ, I wonder how many calories you could burn off on pointless, night long, beak fuelled sex sesh... You know , the ones with zero chance of a pay-offThe average human loses 26 calories when kissing for a minute. Furthermore, vigorous sex for half an hour burns 150 calories (you can lose three pounds in a year – if you have sex 7 to 8 times a month). Kissing is also very good for your teeth: the extra saliva released during the act helps to keep the mouth clean – reducing the risk of decay.
Bloody hell, on the 'vigorous sex for half an hour burns 150 calories' that means after one of my vigorous sex sessions I have burnt 600 calories!!!
