Southgate gets slaughtered for his selections (amongst other things) every game. Always has. Made some changes for this tournament, they’re all useless as well.

Grealish wasn’t doing it until he was left out for example, now it’s “If only he had picked Grealish.

He gets slaughtered because he is an utterly clueless moronic imbecile who has never had a tactical thought or affected a game of football positively in his entire life.

Tbf, every England manager gets pelters evey game. That said, this XI he is picking is clearly not balanced and playing well below the sum of its parts.

It's been a hell of a time to try to crowbar media favourite and all round great klopp lad 'trent' into midfield. Friendlies for this kind of tinkering. He's set england up a man down two games on the bounce. A very silly chap.
 
Tbh, when looking at the squad it's hard to see a coherent plan. Toney was never required, and has done nothing since coming back, would have been better off using that spot for a competent midfielder. I would possibly consider dropping Trippier for a left sided cb so when attacking England can go 3 at the back allowing Stones to push into midfield like he does for country, play foden behind Kane, Gordon left and Bellingham deeper.

It does feel a bit off. Not much balance, lots of untested players

Agreed. Also not having a decent LB, also too slow to use subs. The point was not to defend the indefensible but to point out that anything he does is seemingly wrong.

he's let the fa and media pick the side they want. then tried to find a system to allow that. he's had no chance, but has been happy to take the money and waste another generation of footballers. he is a symptom of the pressure the game provides in this country. It'll take a monster ego to step in and throw his weight around to get the outside influences back out of the conversation.
