Sven was quite similar to Southgate. Sat back on slender leads against the bigger nations and allowed the inevitable to happen. He just happened to come up against the bigger sides a little earlier into tournaments than Southgate has.Luckiest manager in the history of football bar none. If Sven had had his tournament draws we’d have cleaned up.

Its certainly a possibility. England have tended to follow a similar pattern regardless of manager in losing to the first big nation they come up against in a tournament KO match. Probably under Sven the big one was failing to win the group in 2002. A win instead of a draw against beatable Sweden or Nigeria sides would've won England the group, then they'd have come up against Brazil in the SF and not the QF.So are we saying that he’d have matched Southgate’s record if he’d had similar tournament draws?

The FA should get him to do the FA Cup draws from now on. No need to warm the balls for Gareth. He has a gift for plotting soft draws. He's fantastic at persuading the gullible FA to hand him contract after contract. His only skill as far as I can see.
He'd quickly put them both together.Hitler would be torn.
If he goes like the second half on Tuesday with Mainoo and/or Palmer and Gordon then he should, I really don’t wanna see Trent Notta Midfielder or Connor Gallagher alongside Rice on SundayNo pressure Gareth, but if you don’t make the final from this point then it is simply a massive failure I’m afraid.

And lost all 3Probably true. But those teams are still weaker than pretty much everyone on the other side of the draw so it’s still unbelievable luck and allows Southgate the opportunity to further airbrush his record.
Over an 8 year spell as manager he’s maybe been properly tested in a knockout game about 3 times.
