A little improvement but hard to see us any beating of the 3 likely teams we could face.

That central midfield area is just so slow and negative, you could see in the first half when they wanted to they could play direct dynamic football but the second half the large majority of first touches were backwards, even when there was no pressure so it was obviously their first thought.

Rice can handle the defensive area and we should play Foden & Grealish drifting, creating space, but I doubt he will.
Part of me agrees with your comment about direct dynamic football.
As much as I can’t stand the RS I do wonder with the players we’ve got why we don’t go out and blitz teams like the RS did two seasons ago. I mean from the first minute just go full pelt with swashbuckling attacking football.

I think Southgate is taking a pragmatic approach and that’s fine in some instances but we have so much attacking talent that I think it’s a shame we just don’t go all out attack.
Time will tell I suppose.

and that's why hes not scoring

Clutching to drum some excitement and positivity out nothing.

Only chance of winning would be a huge smash and grab and parking the bus.
Or Southgate not playing the same team and changing things up a bit.... So yeah the smash and grab thing basically.

Portugal are beatable for england. France and Germany are different animals.

None of them are beatable for Southgate being soft like he is doing.
With all due respect to the group, it wasn’t the strongest of groups.

Portugal dug in against Hungary, and whilst defensively void against Germany; still were dangerous going forward, whilst England are “wishy washy”.

With the prospect of any one of those three very good sides in the next round, I just don't see how England get through unless we fluke it on pens.

As for Scotland, I'd love to know how many Euros and World Cups they've got to now and failed to get out of their group. They're yet to play a knock out match at any tournament they've qualified for.
