Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

What transfer records have we smashed? Most expensive keeper? Chelsea and then Livepool. Most expensive defender? Liverpool again. Midfielder? United. Striker? United again. In fact our record signing is Rodri at £63M. Which is still a long way short of the British transfer record.
Haha! You poor fellas. Incredible job he’s done on a shoestring. Haha

I personally think Guardiola is guilty of being a smart a**e in the summer. He chased Cancelo instead of chasing a top centre half. Everyone knew that losing Kompany as a player but also a leader was going to be difficult to replace.

This season they will lose David Silva who again as a player and leader will be a massive blow to City.
Klopp was a genius because he knew that just by keeping his star players he would have the advantage over Pep. If it aint broke and all that stuff.

Pep will leave in the summer, he is clever enough to know that losing Kompany and Silva in 12 months isnt that easy to cope with.

Amount of money city have spent on defenders only is more than most clubs valuation in premier league. Stones, Otamendi, Mangala, Laporte, Mandy, Walker, Cancelo and maybe more. It doesn’t matter if city hasn’t broken a transfer record. City squad is still more expensive than any club in PL and the trend will continue

I decided to take a look because I have seen a fair bit of revisionism around how much city have spent and frankly the money spent in football disgusts me - not just city, but they’ve played a big part in it obviously.

the Neymar transfer to PSG reset the market most recently, which turned average cloggers from £6m gambles to £25m gambles. Turned £30m stars into £80m stars.

But the market was already messed up before then.

keepers going for £75m+, defenders for £80m, it’s just disgusting.

it makes teams trying to challenge have to lash £30-40m on players that are far from proven to be good enough. Look at Kean - £30m for a young gamble that might, but obviously might not work out.

so, according to transfermarkt.com;

Gk - Ederson was the UK record in 17/18 obviously now surpassed (twice)

DF - City have 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 11th and 12th most expensive transfers for defenders in the UK.

of those, Stones was English record for a defender in 16/17; then overtaken by Laporte in 17/18. Mendy was English record for a full back in 17/18, now Cancelo is.

MF - 2nd and 3rd most expensive signings, De Bruyne was the record in 15/16.

Forwards: Sterling was 2nd (behind Di Maria) in 15/16, Mahrez (who wasn’t needed and doesn’t play!) was and still is 3rd most expensive attacker signed in English football ever!!

Ridiculous how much they have spent on defenders alone.

From Mangala to Cancelo it must be over 350 million easily.

And the defence is what has contributed to their lame showings in the CL the last 4-5 years.

Amazing with their financial power of Abu Dhabi and they still haven't put a dent in Europe, have they actually taken a massive scalp or had a defining victory, they just always seem to get knocked out on a whimper against a team they should have blown out of the water.

Massive underachieving and it's the trophy Abu Dhabi wants the most to whitewash their continuing human rights abuses and the Yemen war.

As much as football now is diluted with money, most important trophies still cannot be bought without experience and history. RS, City, PSG and Juventus are classic examples.

I don’t mind City spending the money because let’s face it, I would love Everton to do the same but when their fans say they don’t spend lot of money compared to United or RS, they are lying to themselves. I don’t think they want to accept that they bought the league medal. It was a long spending spree of many years and experience that won them the league, it’s a fact

likewise liverpool should stop pretending they aren't a money club

RS and United are in the same boat. They might not have a Sugardaddy as big as City but their brand value today gives them unfair advantage so it’s not a level playing field. Their brand value doesn’t reflect their recent success at all.

He's made an official complaint about the referee.

Compare that to the spineless response of ours against Spurs and you can see why he's a winner.

The Premier league have had 4 complaints about referees in the last month and only one club has chosen to go public with it. How do you we aren;t one of the other three? We could have 2 bites at it, in fairness.
