Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

Winning the league , 3 times whilst being outspent by in no particular order, rs,Spurs,Chelsea and Man Utd is just decent is it.
Winning the league up against Tapie's corrupt Marseille is just decent is it.
Fergie is in a class of his own , Guardiola is an extraordinary manager but you cannot look at his success and not wonder if he could do it without a Messi or the biggest transfer budget in every league he goes to.
His teams are amazing and play some of the best football but his failure to win the CL without Messi,Xavi and Iniesta will blot his copy ....till he does.....if he does.
He undoubtedly elevated already very god sides like city and barca, i dont think he improved bayern personally and i also have this feeling he hasnt really ever built anything

He built his original Barca side, a lot of the key players came from his B-team. Going to quote myself here:

When Pep came in, Xavi was about to be sold to Juve, Messi and Iniesta were incredibly talented players but still hadn't reached anywhere close to their potential. Their greatness looks like a foregone conclusion now but only with the benefit of hindsight.

That Barca team finished trophyless and almost 20 points behind Madrid the season before, but Pep promoted a few young players, offloaded Ronaldinho and Deco and spent relatively very little to win an unprecedented treble. Pep was as responsible for the career trajectories of Messi and Iniesta as they were for his imo.

It's easy to know how good his Barca side are on reflection, but absolutely nobody saw their dominance coming that season. I agree, he hasn't really impressed me since, he achieved the bare minimum with Bayern and City have dropped ludicrous money. But his original Barca side were unbelievable and assembled for surprisingly little money. He can take a lot of credit for that

He gets angry and then leaves at the end of the season.
We saw it at Barca and Bayern. It's like something clicks in his head and he has to leave.

He has to win the cl with city with the squad he has had.

I mean, does that invalidate the point? Would Klopp be here without the insane spending Liverpool did over the last 18months? Would that not put him as a VERY good manager still who won the Bundesliga twice and got to a Champions League final?

Over the last 18 months, Klopp has spent £166m, with a net spend of £92m. During the same period, Brands/Silva have spent £197m, with a net spend of £99m. (All figures from Transfermarkt.) If Klopp’s spending is “insane”, what does that say about Brands and Silva?

For the record, Pep spent £222m, with a net spent of £114m, over the same period.

It says the last management team was the worst in football .

Net spend is easy when you have a squad full of talent to start with. Liverpool had a good body of talent to start with, bought wisely and sold player at hugely inflated prices. God dam barstewards

The ultimate cheque book manager. He'll probably leave City at the end of the season and if he does when all's said and done has he really done that great a job with them? Two league titles and a poor record in the Champions League (assuming they don't win it this year which I can't see happening) in four years after his level of obscene spending isn't anything special in reality.

Domestic treble last year was pretty special - first team to do it.
That said - they in effect have two teams with their squad depth (CB one area they'll likely look to improve in Jan).

Would be interesting to see Pep go to a team that are just a level below the top few teams in a league (both in terms of on the pitch and financially).
Could he raise their level to compete with the top boys, improve the existing squad enough (tactically) - inc. developing the younger players - and attract top prospects without the cash to challenge the top dogs?

Until he does I think there will always be a bit of a question mark over him.

The cup draws they got were quite relatively easy, wasn't hard to win both domestic cups.

Only decent team they played in both cup runs was Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final which they won on a penalty shoot out.

Maybe so but to win both cups and defend the league title with nearly 100 points again is still some going.
With that squad they could navigate a cup run playing against league 1&2 sides in both cup competitions.

The cup draws the last 2 seasons they have had in in both cup competitions and CL group draws the last 4 seasons have been been quite relatively easy.

Their Achilles Heel in the CL knockouts is meeting sides who don't show them any respect by sitting back and letting City overwhelm them.

RS, Spurs and Monaco played on the front foot, pressed them and blew them away in 15 minute spells during the ties.

I could see him doing a Klopp too if it doesn't go his way too. But without leaving knacked players.
