Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

I'm kind of unsure how to feel about this

I mean, FFP laws have always struck me as a way to enforce the existing order, so in that regard I'm glad City have given UEFA a bloody nose

On the other hand I think the fact they've got away with it is a shame as it's probably mostly down to them having the money to buy the lawyers to make sure they won

I'm conflicted

Hey our owners are parasites we know that but this about a club spending billions and dodgy deals all over the show , fine if it stops Liverpool winning i can understand Everton being pleased but the reality is now any club can do anything they want and UEFA can do nothing

I really don't understand the outrage from Liverpool fans.
If any set of fans should appreciate a club getting delayed justice for wild, wrongful biased accusations that stuck because of an organised campaign against them then it should be Liverpool fans?

i appreciate this is incredibly nuanced, but my understanding of the case from this morning is that CAS have decided that under the 5 year statute of limitations, UEFA cannot punish city for what happened more than 5 years ago.

In layman's terms, does this open the window for UEFA to tighten up these rules and enforce tighter, rather than loosen FFP?

It feels like the only card they have to play here is to aknowledge they lost due to the below, but ensure FFP is managed as tightly as possible.

It wasn't just because of the time bar. They also said they had insufficient evidence. We'll know more when the full report is out. I'm over the moon, I honestly thought UEFA couldn't be so stupid as to push for something they knew had a good chance of being overturned. So I thought we were going to get properly stitched up. Interestingly, the leaks from UEFA stopped the same time Rick Parry stepped down. Remarkable coincidence that.

Sit back and watch the fall out. And hope that Everton's men in charge know how to take advantage of the situation.

yeah - all very valid, the only thing I would say is if UEFA did nothing post Spiegel reports, they look like idiots either way. As you said the devil will be in the detail.

UEFA, like all sporting bodies are consumed by their need to have control and power, I think they will try to tighten up with tougher timelines on FFP (Especially post covid); but that will ultimately fail

You mean like it being OK with UEFA to do a dodgy deal with Liverpool to write off £50m for a stadium that never even got started? Also, Liverpool breached and failed FFP in 2014 but did not get sanctioned as they didn't qualify for the CL the following season. That's OK too is it?
People. Stones. Glasshouses...

Hes a United fan mate. I made the same assumption though.

It wasn’t City’a fault. By large, it was mainly Barca and LFP kicking off something stupid. It just smacks jealousy to me.

Pep went to City, Barca were on the decline, they’re brassic, so it makes no difference. End of the day, says something about Barca, biggest club on the world and still in financial dismay.

Meanwhile, City new kids on the block went all guns blazing, signed the best talents and after Barca (add 6-7 teams) had built their dynasty over a period, City just waltzed in.

Cant say I’ll enjoy City winning 50 leagues on the run, but FFP was ridiculous, and there to help the existing big boys and not let anyone else join the party.
