Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

Just on sterling, don't think he's been great this season. Would play foden before him in your England team, Mount or even Harvey barnes.
I agree it's not been his best season but TBF he's one of England's senior players. Hard to see him not being a starter at the Euros, at least to begin with

So people rate Guardiola as this great manager perhaps the best in the world but what defines a great manager.
Should a manager who is managing Barcelona with the best team in the world win the league and champions league... yes. he won the champions league twice with barcelona out of four attempts, he won the league 3 times out of 4. Is Luis Enrique a great manager too? or does he just managing a great team?
Should a manager with Bayern Munich win the champions league, a team who in his era there perhaps the best in the world.... yes, he didnt win it. He won the bundesliga 3 times but hardly surprising when he signed all their rivals best players from them, eg Lewandowski and Gotze.
My main point being, he failed at Bayern Munich, the league was a gimme for the them but ultimately the champions league he didnt even reach a final.
As for the premier league when did a team last win the league playing Barca esque style football? I dont think its been done. Look what that style did to Everton last season. Then compare Leicester's effective counter attack style.
For me Guardiola has done what has been expected of him as a whole on his career and certainly is no elite manager. His style will be found out and I expect him be struggling next season. I cant understand the hype and odds suggest Man City are huge favourites to win the league... not for me.
This aged well

Helluva joke this thread idea, time to close?

Ninety minutes away from making that argument. He's going to be viewed one way if Zidane or Tuchel snookers him, and another should he lift it.

It's clear enough that he can win domestic silverware anytime, anyplace, anywhere his way given the backing. An all-time great on results and influence on the game, without a doubt.

For as long as I've known this deference to senior players, over form, is why England don't do well. Southgate is less prone to it than former managers though.
I think Southgate also pays attention to form in an England shirt and not just at club level. But yes I agree Southgate is quite good with things like that. I'm hoping he's going to ignore the media's calls to drop Sancho from the squad in favour of Lingard. But yeah that comment about Sterling I made a couple of months ago but now I think I wouldn't start him for England. I think as a front 3 I'd have Foden, Kane and then one of Sancho or Grealish. Probably Sancho.

Sterling has re-entered his head-down-no-end-product phase for England. Trying to do too much and a bit too selfish.
I'd go for Grealish - I like his hunger, over Sancho. I've not seen enough of the latter to see why people are so impressed by him.

Sancho IMO has been brilliant for about 3 years in Germany. But so has Grealish really so hard to pick between them (and others in their position).
