It would be proper Everton if the rules got scrapped after our benefactor has been placed in the financial gulag.

What the sport needs is a functional salary / spending cap.

But it'd be impossible to implement, because it'd have to be a on a global scale to prevent talent drain to anywhere that didn't impose it.

It only works with the NFL because most of the world isn't bothered enough about the sport to try and compete with it.

You are right...but you may have a different view depending on where you're seating. If your club has rich owners of course those rules are anti competitive...if not you want salary cap, etc...

I'm not aware of other industries where business owners are prevented from investing in the business they own. The rules are by nature anti competitive.
