Sigurdsson should never be mentioned in the same breath as Tim Cahill.

Nor should any other player at the club. The only player in my life I can remember who raised their game against better opponents.

Tim Cahill was a much better than this fella. Even when he played deeper which didn’t really suit him always got on the ball and played a bit.

You disagree, that's fine, but I'm not chatting wham. Silva has always played a 4-3-3 formation, yet plays a 4-2-3-1 here all to try and accommodate Sigurdsson because he can't play centre mid.

Gomes will replace him in time if he can get up to speed and he's a much better fit for how Silva wants to play football.

Sigurdsson is more of a Tim Cahill type player, but we all seem to think he's a playmaker and play him like one.

Not even close.

Shouldn't even be named in the same sentence as Cahill.

He's no doubt got talent but his tendancy to shy away from the ball and hide is absolutely unforgivable. No one in our midfield wants the ball, and the lack of a link between defence and attack bar the odd hoof has been one of our biggest problems in previous years.

Praying Gomes might be the one to change that but as an injury prone loanee with shattered confidence after his barcelona days i'm not convinced he will be.

Boggles my mind how we still persist with the 2 DM approach when it seems time and time again proven ineffective with multiple coaches.

I compared him to Cahill based on position and involvement in build up play. Stylistically nothing like him.

See, I'm frustrated because I still believe he's one of the most talented players we've had in a generation. He dragged Swansea out of the mess they were in a couple of seasons back and has been incredible for Iceland. I'll hold my hands up through, I'm not tactically smart enough to know what needs to happen to get the best out of him now. Maybe somebody who is will have ideas on how we can? For me, looking to go wide all of the time probably doesn't help and him needing service from the two behind him isn't great either.

Cahill wasn’t a deep lying creative mid but compared to what Siggurdson produced on Saturday he may as well have been Xavi.

This fraud isn’t fit to lace Cahill’s boots.
