I honestly don´t get why he was not subbed. Getting a two footed tackle on the ankle joint in mid run when you´re about to put weight on it is incredibly dangerous. The players will always want to play on, but its the medical team and the manager that must play it safe. How that is not a red is beyond me. What do you need to do to get a red then?
Well it all depends on who you play for really. For example if that was Gana on Hazard you can guarantee he'd have been sent off and probably banned for the rest of the season.

He needs to admit hes made a mistake in his match report and that it should have been a red. Think they can look at it again then. Never happens though.

My understanding is that unfortunately the yellow stands even if the ref subsequently says he should have given a red. They always say decisions given on the field where they have been seen and dealt with at the time by the officials, won't be changed so no rerefereeing.

I know there are inconsistencies and refs can claim they didnt see or fully realise the true seriousness of an incident, or were too close to it and all the other excuses ...etc etc but the yellow card will prevent any rerefereeing of it.

What ha horrible rule that is. Any obviously malicious and dangerous tackle should come with an automatic match ban.

It’s a stupid rule, if a challenge should be a red, you would expect the player to be at least booked, I mean if it’s bad the refs thought should be if it’s a red? Meaning it’s at least a booking . The mistake is when he doesn’t give the red , meaning the booking actually protects the player from being punished later. It’s stupid, the only way a player can get a retrospective ban is if the red cocks up massively and doesn’t even book the player, or , in Alonso’s case, doesn’t even award a foul

Can Jorginho get a retrospective ban for that? As the ref didn’t do anything about it. Obviously Bernard and rudiger are in the clear as even though the ref didn’t see it, he booked them both. But with this, he saw it but didn’t respond to it.
Dont agree with restrospective bans at all me. An horrendous act like that should be dealt with on the spot by the referee preferably with VAR . Jorgihno would only get banned after the fact and would be no benefit to us at all infact we were worse off as Gylfi had to leave the field later in pain.
Instant dismissal punishes Chelsea for the rest of the game not in the following games where they can just replace him and no change to the numbers on the pitch.
No not a fan of retrospective bans me.

Hope it’s not too serious

It can't be that serious if he has played on.

He has a couple of weeks to recover and if he is looking borderline for Cardiff he should be benched and saved for Liverpool. Bernard can come in to number 10 and Richarlison to the left.

But the ref might not see it and var isn’t in use. So then what? He goes unpunished for dangerous play. Regardless of if it helps us or not, it then needs punished in some way to stop him endangering others in the future.
