Thats what gets me, with the amount of formations these days i dont see how a number sets the position, for example whats a number 6? 5?

It makes sense when every one played 4 4 2, but even then i only really heard it used to describe your striker 9.

Going far too deep into this, i need to go for a run or something.

In a 4-2-3-1

2 4 5 3 6 8 7 10 11 9

In a 4-3-3

2 4 5 3 8 6 10 7 9 11

Obviously 1 is a GK before someone rips me apart.

It's not that simplistic though as when I was younger I thought "4" was a defensive midfielder and "6" was a centre back.

Obviously didn't read all my post as I said at moment he is pretty much first name on team sheet. I used to think the same about Cahill and also Fellaini. Some players are only suited to certain systems. Silva has even admitted in interviews that Sigurdsson form has made him change what system he wanted to play.
Would genuinely like to read these Silva quotes mate. Could you furnish me with the articles / links?
Cheers in advance

So we have a manager that has the faith and conviction to play players in their correct positions yet you make out Siggurdson is lucky because the system suits him.
Dont you think that applies to ANY player in ANY system.
Or should we just go back to signing a load more no 10's and stick Siggurdson back on the wing.
Cant see the point you are actually trying to make.

And what has resale to do with it ?
Yeah... the god dam player of the season, ruining things by being to good to drop

My original point when I came on here this morning was we over paid and then I explained why I thought this. Resale value does have a bearing on the value of a transfer fee for me.

No I don't want us to keep signing random players all I was saying is he is in my opinion a player that suits a particular system and that is another reason why he might not be worth the fee.

I love the fact he has been awesome this season and long may it continue might even get us into the top 4 if we continue playing well and pinching results.

Maybe I should just stop typing and keep my opinions to myself.

I think you could be right

IMO given he had no resale value and he does restrict the way the team is set up I think he is worth £30 million top. What I mean by restricting the way we play is he is like Cahill you can only really play him as a "10" as was proven last season. Don't get me wrong in this system he is very effective but I do feel that Silva has been forced to change his plans slightly so he can accommodate him. If he got injured and we changed system so there was no "10" he might struggle to get back in.

Is that you Tom Davies?

Yeah, we don’t want people coming on forums giving opinions.

His movement of the ball is class. His pressing and cutting passing paths between players is class.

So much more of an all rounder than I thought when we first got him, not often the fancy players also have a dash of aggression and workrate, he is often the one leading the press from the front.
