I understand that taking every corner & free kick is likely to boost assists..

Look, he’s a decent player. He’s just not a top 6 player. If that’s where we want to be, we could have spent £45M a LOT better.

Obviously, I hope he does well & will get behind him. I predict Silva will want to upgrade right through the team. Doubt he’ll be 1st choice after January.

Think people need to remember it's only his 2nd or 3rd pre season game, took him about 2 months to get up to speed last season when he was banned from preseason and his first game time was in Europe for us (also speaking of Richarlison making an impact instantly, didn't gylfi score from the halfway line that game? ). Was doing really well under Allardyce (about the only player other than Walcott and Seamus who did) until he got his injury. Think it'll be another few games until we see the best of him and he learns what Silva wants from him, let's stop moaning at our own players just because we can spunk lots of money over them now.

I'd love it to happen.

50 touches of the ball a game, average 2.5 key passes a game from open play and I'll think he is decent. Ross managed that under Koeman where he was apparently useless.

When? Played 14 league games under Allardyce, 3 goals and 1 assist.
Calvert-Lewin got 3 goals and 3 assists in fewer minutes under Sam.

Can't wait to see him this season, going to be ace for us but one misplaced pass will get picked up on unfortunately.
Fully expect Silva to give him a big role, he won't care what the fee was, only what he brings to the team with his skills.

I would like him to have done that last season, but he supposedly never had a pre - season, and that’s why he was mostly cack last season.

The other thing is, I hope he does become boss, if he does, then he contributes to us doing well, and at the end of the day that’s all what matters, whether I like him or not.

When was that like? Maybe for Iceland, certainly wasn't for us.

He had the odd game. Palace at home when we won 3-1 he was brilliant. But honestly you can count the number of games that he had a similar impact on one hand. With several fingers cut off.

This. I want all his staunch defenders to be right and to pipe me and you right down. I’ve been hoping for this for ages though, and at 29 we’re running out of time to see his best.
