He was amazing at Swansea, he hasnt just suddenly become crap. Its just that Swansea played some cracking fast paced, fluid football and we didnt. I recon when the tempo increases and players start looking for space to run into...we will see the real Gylfi.

Think people need to remember it's only his 2nd or 3rd pre season game, took him about 2 months to get up to speed last season when he was banned from preseason and his first game time was in Europe for us (also speaking of Richarlison making an impact instantly, didn't gylfi score from the halfway line that game? ). Was doing really well under Allardyce (about the only player other than Walcott and Seamus who did) until he got his injury. Think it'll be another few games until we see the best of him and he learns what Silva wants from him, let's stop moaning at our own players just because we can spunk lots of money over them now.

Maybe he’s tired from playing those competitive games in the World Cup not that long ago.

This. I want all his staunch defenders to be right and to pipe me and you right down. I’ve been hoping for this for ages though, and at 29 we’re running out of time to see his best.

That’s the thing mate, I’ve never understood the logic behind some Everton fans who think there are other fans who want an Everton player to fail no matter what to just be proved right. As I say, whether I like him or not I want him to do the bizz with us, and if that means I have to listen to lads saying they were right all along about Sigurdsson being boss etc, then so be it.

I meant in terms of siggyfraud fanboys have been using every excuse under the sun to excuse his averagness meanwhile richarlson comes straight in, looks every bit our best player, constantly looks a threat on the ball and worth the money

How he played for us last season but taking all the set pieces (inc penalties) and playing every minute of every game = how he played for Swansea.

If he'd ended up with 10 goals (6 pens) and another few assists from taking every set piece people on here would be saying he was brilliant but he'd have still been the same fairly anonymous player he was. I like players who get involved in play.

Also, I could be wrong, but he did have plenty of game time last season, and he did take virtually all our set - pieces.

I didnt give that reason for him being crap. He wasnt imo...he was just not used to passing to static players. He will flourish with players around him who pass and move. Doesnt seem like we will agree anyways...it doesnt matter actually does it ? He is here, he wont be going anywhere and either I will be proved right or wrong. Its no biggy x

As I’ve said above, I would be over the moon if he became boss because it contributes to us as a team, and in my eyes that is all what matters.

Whatever we think though, massive season for him this season, he has a lot to prove.

I want every Everton player to be brilliant. I love to see Cuco morph into Cafu, who wouldn’t?
