2018/19 Gylfi Sigurdsson

A good player, works hard and has a bit of quality about him. His transfer fee is the fault of either Walsh, Koeman or both of them and, as such, should not be used as a stick to beat him with. Gylfi did not set the fee, Swansea did and we were daft enough to pay it.

He hasn't run many games since he's been here. Always been a good player and will always pop up with assists and goals but he was never worth what we paid for him. For 50m we needed a playmaker who could dominate the game, pull the strings and give us that extra. As it is he is just pretty good.

Well considering that utter tosh like Coutinho went for 150m, we underpaid really.

I know the price tag wasn't his fault just circumstance and us paying a PL premium really. Just saying a big signing should be a statement, Sig is just a good player he was never going to take us to the next level was he?

Not on his own no, but our 2 highest scorers this season are the 2 players that cost in excess of 40m.

Nobody is suggesting we overpaid for Rico anymore and he has 1 more goal than Iceland.

Biggest problem with him and the rest of the squad is their lack of character and personality. I thought back to the best Everton team in my lifetime (not saying much I know) but I could never imagine the likes of Cahill, Arteta and Pienaar going missing. Yes they had bad games and when the small squad was decimated by injuries we struggled but we always had a shift out of them and you could never write us off.

With Sigurdsson and the rest of the new players I don´t think there´s that team spirit. It doesn´t feel like they´re as bothered. Might be completely wrong but it felt completely different 10 years ago.
