He can put the ball in the goal but for the other 89 minutes he offers very little.
Everything he does is 1 or 2 touch because he panics in possession and can't run with the ball or go past a man.
The one through ball he played for Richarlison at Burnley is about the only decent one I can remember him playing for months now.
He scores goals but he just isn't creative enough at all and if he doesn't score then he often has no impact on the match whatsoever.
Richarlison at least takes players on and gets us up the pitch as well as scores goals and actually looks worth his price tag.
On patches like this where we look hopeless he should be standing out as a creative spark and he never does.
How does he panic in possession? He literally is one of our only players who doesn't, ffs. He's just got the vision and skill to play the game at pace, not have to take 12 touches first.
He attempted 41 passes on Tuesday. His passing accuracy was 95.1%, the highest in our team. 26 of those passes were in the opposition half, with 92.3% accuracy, again the highest in our team.
He has played that same pass that he has played through to Richarlison loads of times this season already.
Off the top of my head...
He did two in the derby - one Walcott, one Richarlison. He did one v S'ton for Walcott. He did one v Leicester (a) for Walcott. He did the ball through to Richarlison for his first goal in our win over Brighton. He played the pass through to DCL for our first goal v Spurs.
But yeh, selective memory is class.
Sigurdsson and Richarlison are literally nothing alike. Richarlison is about pace and power, clever movement off the ball and running at players.
Sigurdsson is about quick passing and interchanges, and finding those runs - which he does very well.
He hasn't been great in the last few matches, but was our best player v Spurs (not hard) and played well in a deeper, slightly different role v Burnley.
