In terms of quality, experience, mentality,
not so in terms of performance - I put that down more to the manager.
Either Gylfi goes or Silva sorts it out....or Silva goes, would be my take on it.
Agree to an extent.
I think it's a mix of both. Does the system get the best out of him, and is Gylfi good enough (on his day) to have the system built around him. I'd have to say on that last point, as much as I like him, not for me.
But, we do need a system that helps get the best out of him because he's our best creative player. I don't see how there can be arguments with that. He creates chances - as he should - and scores goals.
Now, would it be better to move him into a three, so he can have more of the ball - because the accusation is in that second striker role he doesn't 'do enough'. You'd then have to make sure the front three was a proper three - not a central striker isolated inbetween two wingers stuck out on the touchlines, with no movement.
Or, is it to stick with him in the 2nd striker role and try and get back to the form of our decent run. For that I think Richarlison needs to be central and we need to have him dragging defences around, opening up space for Gylfi and Bernard to operate in.

No out and out goal machine drags gylf, Rico and others out of position. As it goes, I never wanted him anyway, not 'us' somehow, but with Rico left or, Lookman / Bernard or an in form Walcott right and a decent two in front he can still wreak havoc.

I can't see how anyone could question it.
He's got drive, guts and a winners mentality to go with a good deal of smarts.
When he represents Iceland its obvious.
There have been times this season when he has looked lost and out of sorts.
But to question his this is really to point the finger at Silva.
There are games we would have def lost this season without his lung busting runs, both in attack and defence.
He's got an engine to go with the class.
His middle name is Thor ffs.
Either Silva does not know how, or does not want to, harness what Gylfi's got.
Silva's (and Gylfi's) problem is probably his two best players (Gana) contradict each other.

Don’t care about Iceland and he hasn’t got what you described. He hides quite regularly and has done throughout his career

He need to plays in a diamond or 3 man midfield.
Not as a traditional 10 or second striker waiting for the ball to come out of the build up.
rather he should be integral to the build up - combined with a Cahill role (younger version).
He should be deeper doing a lot of the graft both in defence and attack.
But from there, he is perfectly positioned to play to his attacking strengths - to put those delightful passes into the forwards and/or make the ghosting runs into the box with the intelligence and skill to be lethal.
