I would have put Dowell and Vlasic as his understudies/competition, not sure who his direct replacement is considering neither Bernard or Lookman have played consistently in that position.
Obviously Vlasic asked to go on loan but maybe he didn't think he would get minutes and Silva preferred Dowell who didn't kick on.
Either way options are limited to replace him in the side whether through choice or enforced.

Yeah agree, he was ok today, the judge his performance before the game has even kicked off crowd are out in force.

He has been plenty good for us. Everyone said how bad he was last week and he was the only one that created anything. At least he ran his tail off. He still had 3 key passes and is our most creative player by a mile.
Until you find a better 10 - and Richarlison and Bernard aren't 10s - he's our guy. And he's pretty good - was fine today for sure.

You are seeing what you want to and will continue to. Fair enough, but when you watch games without the blinkers on, he is our most anonymous player most weeks and has a definite negative effect on how our midfield functions.

Look, I have no problem sitting him down - Silva liked to play a 4-2-1-3 with Watford at times with 2 DMs. Who would those be on this team? Silva has 3 competent center mids on this team and they play very specific roles. They aren't very adaptable, which isn't his fault.

Don't need to sell him. He's a very useful player to have. Always baffles me when if a player isn't doing well they need to be sold. We'd have no players left!
