I agree that he's not a CM. A CM doesn't have to hold the ball, so that's not a factor nor the reason. No one complains about Dele Ali not holding the ball. But he's not a CM because he doesn't tackle or run all that well. It's also because he's a tremendous scorer from outside the box, which is why he's going to play as a 10, just like he should be, pushing up high as often in the final third as he can. One of Bernard / Ricarlison / Walcott will come in off the bench each game, could sub in for Siggy like anyone else. He'll play 2500 minutes, score 8 or 9, get around 7 assists, and a bunch of inflexible dinosaurs will still complain that he doesn't hold the ball, or boss a game, and complain that he produces a TON in few touches because should instead sit on the ball and do a lot less with it instead.

Whoa. He's not technically gifted enough? I thought I heard it all when people said he didn't run enough, that he didn't score from outside the box enough, or didn't create from open play, all of which has been disproved. But this one takes the cake.

To dribble into the heart of a physical and packed tight defense that most teams in the EPL play? It's not an insult to Sigurdsson. I like him. AM doesn't seem his best position
 

personally I think we need an ever banega type of player instead of morgan.
but if we dont get one, I would be happy to drop gana back and play Bernard (if we get him ) and Sigurdsson a bit deeper than number 10s, as attacking midfielders.

Is that a requirement as an attacking midfielder? Do they have to be able to dribble by people? And does Klopp or Pep play with a physical and packed tight defense? Heck no. Does Christian Eriksen ever dribble by anyone? Nope. David Silva and Dele Ali don't really dribble by anyone, either. Jesse Lingard? Nope.

Banega? This is the same problem I have with Joao Mario. Lovely player, but don't we want more of a Doucoure type that can both drop, play defense, and carry the ball forward? Zakaria? That type I think would be better. Gana is definitely where you have him, just think that lineup is really REALLY offensive and our central midfield would get cut into pieces.

The closest comparison in that entire paragraph is Eriksen and Sigurdsson hasn't shown he can hold a candle to Eriksen's technical ability. Silva and Alli are both faster and far more agile than Sigurdsson. Lingard is pretty much all pace and agility.

And again, I like Sigurdsson's play but he hasn't shown me anything that says he is a No 10 at a high level.

Scores a ton!!! Just cos hes decent at darts doesnt make him an attacking midfielder.

Sigurdsson, Walcott and Richarlison all work hard which helps. We just need to sort the centre backs out.
