Yeah but Sigurdsson cost £45 million as well as being on £6 million a year. I would take £20-25 million in the summer just to save the additional £18 million wages. If he had been bought for a sensible price and on sensible wages I would say you could justify keeping him. However for me he's an expensive luxury who on his day is really good just doesn't have enough of them.

There was a school of thought that when we acquired a billionaire owner,these things would no longer matter.This all shows that we are as far away from City,United and Chelsea as we ever were.

Totally agree as usual we missed the boat. By the time we get one FFP has kicked in so the teams that already had an advantage can keep it. However if we learn from our mistakes we might yet close the gap at a later date. There is a lot of potential at the club just somehow got to utilise it.

with the current stock pile of unshiftable players we have , we will not be able to compete for the next 3 years at least.

it is what it is. we will be a bottom tier premier league club for the next few seasons

yes bottom of the bottom half... as our current form suggests. we are currently 17th in the current form table

that wont change with us unable to sign players whilst having almost a million pounds worth of wages a week being paid out to players that don't even play for us or cant make the team.
 
whilst we are in this current predicament, gylfi is like a ray of light, he will be one of the players that is the difference between us being in a real relegation battle and us finishing 15th and safe.

Its unreal.

Gomes didn't make a single tackle or interception last week and everyone's crying for him to be signed and how he's quality. Siggy works his tail off. The Tottenham match was a great example.
The whole team was folding like a deck of cards and he was still working his tail off, even made it a game almost entirely on his own. He's the last guy that should be given stick.

if it wasn't for gylfi's input this season we would almost certainly be in the bottom 3

Without Sigurdsson we might have found a way to play which got the best out of more of our players. Sigurdsson being in the team means we have to play a certain way which doesn't suit a lot of our players.
