Hi Richard. Your mate did good, where’s the bar charts though?

P.s bad choice of song

..those more central deep areas are so difficult to hit dangerous free kicks from but he invariably puts the ball right on the button.

Hoping with Richarlison and Bernard we might start getting free kicks in threatening positions around the edge of the penalty area. I can hardly remember us getting any last season.

So he’s played in his correct position, he’s got passes coming into him in the right area (and its generally on the floor) and he’s got plenty of movement around him... Should imagine he’s actually enjoying football again.

Happy to say that was the best I've ever seen him play in terms of all-round game.

Same with Schneiderlin for those 20 mins he was on, looked like he rolled back the clock...small sample size and all that but colour me extremely impressed if Silva can raise their respective games that much across the season

Sigurdsson playing well in his actual position with pace around him, who’d have thought.

watch him flourish now, full pre season, barring WC duty and with much better players to come into the team, Gomes for me will work brilliantly with gylfi.. cant wait to see it

I still don’t think he’s as good as some are making out. He closed down well, found some decent forward passes and nearly set up Walcott as well as putting a few decent balls in. It’s hardly even Arteta level tbh were he was running the whole game for us and it’s still miles off the level of the top players in his position like Eriksen Hazard Ozil Silva etc. Ok he had a decent game. There’s no over reaction like a GOT Siggurdson over reaction though. Even on the highlights there’s a load of misplaced passes and opportunities lost through being a bit slow.

I don’t see how Bernard, Sigurdsson and Gomes all fit into a starting 11.

Gomes will be an alternative to Schneiderlin I think.

Bernard isn't going to start many games until the season really clicks into gear anyway, but when he is fit he provides a brilliant rotation option for any of the three behind the striker.

Gylfi was excellent on Saturday. He pressed, he was physical, he was key to us regaining possession high upfield and in the second half he really started to click on the ball as well - his set-pieces were superb throughout.

He keeps that up and we'll get the player we thought we should have got last season.
