I've been saying it for weeks, and i was laughed at.
If there was ever a more telling situation to prove that stats really do lie, it's here in Sigurdsson. The fella is a liability. He's meant to be our creative midfielder, yet he offers next to nothing, yet if you look at his stats for his last two games it shows 1 goal, 1 assist. It sounds hypocritical for me to say i don't mind if a striker does nothing all game, but scores his once chance, but i'm fine with that. But for a creative midfielder, Gylfi regularly lets the game pass him by, for a player lacking in pace like him, he can't be as flat footed as he is. Every 50/50, he's already a yard behind.
He just doesn't do it for me. He needs to be getting involved and not waiting for the ball to come to him.
I feel Sigurdsson for £45m is one of the biggest flops we've ever had. Anyone who sits around me at the match probably hates me because I never stop saying he's my most hated Everton player of all time.
Shies out of every tackle, rarely plays a ball forward, and for someone who is our set piece "specialist", offers absolutely nothing in that department either.
