Mate I think you've confused yourself here. YOU are the one saying Sigurdsson is finished here and will be getting the boot in the summer, and that Ancelotti has made his mind up on that. I am saying that logically that makes no sense, because we keep picking him. We played him wide left yesterday when Iwobi was on the bench, who is a left winger. We had Walcott on the bench, who could have played wide right with Bernard switching to the left. Kean could have played up front with Richarlison going left, where he's played half his career. We did none of those perfectly plausible things, because (although I don't know why) Ancelotti quite clearly doesn't think Sigurdsson is already a goner.
Also, if you don't see the complete idiocy in saying in your first post that Sigurdsson lacks commitment and in your second that there's no reason for him not to be captain, I'm not sure that either football or words are for you.
So you are forgetting siggurdson is one of our highest earners , captain of the club and one or the senior players of the squad.
Here's a thought. What if ancelotti doesn't want to play Bernard there? What if he rates siggurdson higher than Walcott , thinks iwobi isn't suited to that specific role?
What if he doesn't want to move richarlison from the role he has been playing ? Doesn't want to play a inexperienced kid?
Perhaps , him rating siggurdson higher than other players for a place in the team right now is not a testimony of how good siggurdson is in ancelottis eyes but a statement on how little he rates the alternatives? Why does everything have to be one extreme or the other? Just because he plays someone doesn't mean he plans to build a team around them. Perhaps siggurdson is just the best alternative right now but come August won't even be at the club anymore , along with one or two of the alternatives you mentioned?
As for the captaincy. Come on mate, how many managers walk into a club and actively change the captain in December ? Think about that one, managers don't do that, especially in December. Come August we may have a new captain but siggurdsons ability , quality or lack of commitment isn't a factor to be binned off overnight.
If you want to question my point on siggurdsons commitment , read this thread. I'm not the only one who thinks he has no movement , pace or desire to cover the pitch as he should be doing.
None of this squad is ancelottis , so why take stock in who he picks when he really doesn't have a choice?
When one of the best managers in the game isn't throwing a young lad with next to no experience into the side whilst we have something to play for, I'll back that decision.
