Don’t think there is much ‘ maybe’ about it for most of this season, I know the midfield situation is very poor at the moment but give me someone who is at least having a go than a player who is hardly in the game, week after week after week.

I don't disagree, but I get why he plays purely because of the lack of options.

In fairness, Gary Neville had a right pop, quite rightly, about his desire and commitment whilst he was co commentator for the away game at Arsenal.

I think his confidence is probably totally gone by now.
He was moved out of his preferred position weeks ago and was asked to play deeper, last Sunday he was asked to play out wide on the left.. I can barely imagine another position that suits him less.
The dogs on the streets know we will be bringing in midfielders in the summer and a half fit Gomes was deemed better than him in central midfield.
I just wish he would shut up and stop trying to show us that he is a leader in the team when on the field we see none of those qualities.


I agree about Tom Davies, I thought he was harshly treated last Sunday. He never hides and playing deep isn't really his best position either.

Davies has no best position if it’s not deep. Just not good enough. As I say at least he doesn’t hide, doesn’t make up for the lack of football intelligence though.

We really have no quality in midfield unfortunately, just need to get to the end of the season and grind out results.

The funniest bit is he's walking around like a lazy arse then when he's forced to be given the ball he shrugs off 3 players and turns from them with ease.

If I was a midfielder of his experience and I got dominated by 21 year old Mason Mount, a 19 year old no one has heard of and Ross Barkley I would be on the phone to my agent saying “get me to the MLS” or even thinking about retiring.

I remember mate, supposedly he was better out on the left because his strength was cutting inside. I also remember being told he was a dead ball expert!
