No midfielder brings their A game to that midfield.

He was the best of a terrible bunch.

Ancelotti knows the score.

*waits for Sigurdsson to be sold to China or USA next week.

I’m not a massive fan , obviously, but if we played Cahill in that Central or defensive Midfield role like we did With him alongside the players we have he’d hardly bring his A game .

i’m not saying he’s top class or integral to a successful Everton but I think it’s fair to add a little balance .

I wouldn't sell unless around 12-15m was on the table.

No point taking a large loss on a player who could be handy off the bench and in cups.

We can sell for much less next year and avoid as much of a loss, potentially making a book profit. That's why I expect him to stay.

Cahill more often than not looked good in his natural position in the advanced midfield role though, that’s the key difference.

like I say I’m not saying he’s incredible or anything but he did ok season before last obviously he’s not the messiah (He’s a very naughty boy )

There is an annual cost to a player mate, amort and wages, both need to be taken into account, transfer fees arent accurate in weighing up the profit we make on a player, comparing book price to transfer fee is useful, if working out player trading on fees. But you need to add amort and wages to see that scenario to work out the overall annually to the club.

Gylfi for example if he stays will cost the club 28 mill in this and next years accounts cumulatively, his book price is 17 mill, if he leaves this summer that 28 mill is wiped out of the clubs books and any fee we got on top for him added.

Yes sure, though lets not forget the fee will also have diminshed. I mean, we lose the book value of a players transfer which can be seen as a positive when wages are also removed but (as you know) we really need to also recuperate the amortized transfer fee back.

Otherwise were just saving future budgeted costs but wiping our our 'assets'.

We dont really mate, 17.8mill of a book price - 28.2 mill in amort and wages over two years owed = 10.4 mill surplus.

That before any fee we might get for him is factored in.

Don’t even mention there names together. Cahill always put a shift in end of and never hid.
