I know and it's mental how some choose to ignore his goals/assists last year.

It's more mental that people actually put any stock in assists. They are worthless.

He does indeed score goals but as with many players what do you lose from the rest of the team to get those goals?

He is not useless or anything but he was awful today and it seems he has two modes, scoring or awful.

It's not that I ignore them, but you know how we can't get the ball up to attack consistently and Calvert-Lewin is constantly on his own holding it up for nobody in particular?

It's because we're playing with 10 men every game until 'Siggy' decides to grace us with his presence and smash one in from 25 yards or put his only real pass of the game on a plate for someone.

I know his qualities, but he's not a playmaker, and as such, game after game, we aren't 'making play' in the final third as we're missing a key ingredient in the attack.

For me, he'd have to be getting 20 goals and assists a year for me to turn a blind eye to the massive detriment he is to general play.

Hope he has more better games this season than last and keep him awayfrom the penalty spot.

In one thread we've got people telling us not to write off a player based on one game. The complete opposite happening in here.

He was rusty, but as he showed last year, he's one of our better players who we'll rely on an awful lot this year for goals cause can't see too many other places they'll come from.

It all goes back to the fee we paid. Take this into account when reading player threads and you'll start to notice posters doing it repeatedly year after year after year, player after player. You have to remember they're a small minority and are just very loud and repeat things a lot.

Iwobi's going to be the next one by the way. Unless he tears it up from the first game.

We need an alternative. Been sayin it for ages. He is a niche player that is at his best when his team controls the game. We could have used a more imposing presence today

Yes because I slate Richarlison all the time eh?

Agree mate but need to blame Brands fir failing to get the winger.

Iwobi was always the replacement for Siggurdsson in my eyes now instead of having Richarlison and Zaha out wide with Bernie/Walcott to rotate we have to shove Iwobi out wide leaving Siggurdsson to arse around in the centre.

Typical performance from this guy, epitomized by his pathetic effort early on. As usual he’ll wake up in about 2 or 3 months time when we’re sitting about 9th and wow us all with his skill.
"As usual".
He was absolutely outstanding in our opening day game vs Southampton last season.
