I don't think pace is as big a deal as people are making it. Spurs score loads with Eriksson Kane and Alli none of which are speedsters

That's because people think speed merchants are dead important basically cos of FIFA.

It's about playing with pace. Moving the ball quickly and efficiently.

The issue has been in the past few years, we've had fast players who have rarely moved the ball quickly enough.

Makes sense. Nothing deadlier on FIFA than Musa Martial and Mane

Sigurdson is super average and perfect for this team of average midfielders Koeman is building

Oh aye, and Koulibaly and Sissoko...

And my point was more to do with Koeman and Barkley than Lukaku.

I wanted so much for Barkley to be great but he has been stagnent for the past two years under two different managers.

I know you dislike Koeman but I'm sorry he has not hounded him out. The lad has been offered an improved contract and not signed it, running his contract into it's final year. He isn't value for it anyway and if he wasn't from Liverpool and was say foreign or from Warrington and bought from somewhere we wouldn't be having this conversation. See Deulofeu.

He stayed here a couple years longer than I expected him to. Why would he leave if finally we had success?

Doesn't make sense.

I'd believe Lukaku before I believed Moshiri, who lied last summer.

Ok mate, so your stated opinion is had we won a cup Lukaku would have turned down United and been happy to stay.

My opinion is he stayed until clubs finally decided to offer huge money for and to him.

Hate Baines, love Lukaku, but ok that's football.

Koeman 'improved' Barkley. That was the line being trotted out right up to the moment Barkley's contract situation became an issue.

Let's not re-write history.
Go to bed mate you are embarrassing yourself again. Korman wanted him at a higher standard in all aspects of his game. He looked like he was achieving it but fell off again. Your opinion's again on managers clouding your judgement on other matters. Clearly shows you know f88k all

Barkley was better when he was dropped and told to sort himself out after that he was a better player. I still think he will stay and hope he does more competition now

The heart of the best side in years. The guardiola bar a side had a heartbeat of iniesta, xavi and fabregas, hell even messi isn't blinding pace wise.

Football (and sports like Rugby (League, not the posh egg chasing ;) ) is all about moving the ball sharply and cleverly.

Yes, pace helps, obviously. And we could definitely do with a bit more, but if we have players with good movement and vision, then it's not *as* vital.

Thing is, he wasn't really dropped.

He started 36 of our Premier League games last year. Only time he was subbed off for tactical reasons (him not performing well) was Sunderland away.

The change paid dividends and he was back in the team four days later.

Very true

Harsh IMO.

Ross started really well in 15/16, but when the going got tough (for all the team) in late Feb/March, he seemed to lose all confidence from then on and it took a good while to get it back.

Koeman came in and I think it's clear Ross did find it difficult. He wasn't awful but he was having to adapt - as the whole team were - to a different approach.

When it finally clicked fully just before Christmas, and Davies then came in with Ross moving further upfield, we started seeing the best of Ross.

Coleman's injury hindered Ross' form as he didn't have the support coming from behind/wide of him then, but he still performed pretty well all in all.
